Rebuilding Worlds: General Discussion

[ Edited ]

Sul Sul! I'm Jenn, or Ojenn, and I am the creator of a few challenges focused on building and genetics in the Sims. As a POC myself I noticed a lack of diversity in Sims on the gallery as well as in my own game, the original challenge was created to help remedy that and help me diversify my game. These challenges span all the way back to Sims 3, the list below is just a brief overview of each one:

Ebony & Ivory: A Genetics Challenge
Rebuild | Renew: A Sims 4 Genetics + Building Challenge
Rebuilding Worlds Vol. 2

Along the way I have made a few friends through the forums, some lifetime friends among them ♥ This thread will act as a placeholder and general discussion thread until the new sims forums are up and running.

I was just thinking for our next go at this challenge, let's not make a world the criteria. Let's do it based on generations but let us go where ever we want. I was looking at my saves and I actually only played through all the generations in a town once. The rest of the times I've rebooted and started over in a new town because I wanted to play the expansion. We should make it so we can continue through the generations in different neighborhoods. Or do it as an option. Maybe each generation moves to a new town. I'm just brainstorming :)

I like this idea @debjameswhite I was just looking over the worlds and realized there are a lot that I would like to build in but they are smaller and I know most people want a 10 gen world. Moving to a new town could be fun as well since we have so many worlds now! Last I looked, if you have all the packs, there are 22?

Re: Rebuilding Worlds: General Discussion

★★ Guide

Maybe like a choose-your-own-adventure story, where you start off in the base world (say Willow Creek or Oasis Springs), choosing one of three lots (small, medium or large), then for gen 2, go to either Windenburg or San Myshuno, for example, and choose from one of three lots there.  Have a set of sims to choose from for each town as spouses.  So one person might start with WC then go to SM, and another might go from WC to Windenburg.  It gives plenty of choices, puts less emphasis on the building aspect but keeps it on the genetics.  We could do the worlds in pairs depending on when they were built but maybe have the three supernatural worlds as optional as not everyone will have those packs (I only have Glimmerbrook out of those), or just randomly pair them up.

Hey @MayaRose1138 ! What would you consider small, medium and large? Maybe 20x15, 30x20 and 50x50 (or the largest in any giving world?) We could steal a page from the renew portion of one of older challenges and have the challenge be about remodeling with a set budget. I think the budget was your idea from the previous thread and I think it could add more of a challenge

I am in the process of purging my cc and updating townies so I am ready when we start lol

Re: Rebuilding Worlds: General Discussion

Here’s an idea for the order of worlds in order of release:

1 - Willow Creek/Oasis Springs

2- Windenburg/San Myshuno

3 - Brindleton Bay/Del Sol Valley

4 - Strangerville/Sulani

5 - Britechester/Evergreen Harbor

6 - Mt Komorebi/Henford-on-Bageley

7 - Tartosa/Copperdale

8 - San Sequoia/Chestnut Ridge

9 - Tomerang/?

10 - Glimmerbrook/Moonlight Falls/Forgotten Hollow/free choice

I’ve left off Newcrest as it’s completely uninhabited but maybe as an optional side challenge, people could place one lot there every generation based on which world they chose (ie. San Myshuno - night club, Tartosa - wedding venue) and turn it into a destination world.  Or it could be used to replace any world that a simmer doesn’t have.  I am buzzing with ideas at the moment!

Small - no bigger than 20x20, medium - 30x20 or 30x30, large - 50x50 (or whatever the largest lot size in the world is).

Remodeling would certainly reduce the floor plans we would need to find!  Maybe we could do like the Evergreen Harbor apartments and remove all internal walls, then remodel the house from there.  How does the budget of $20k, $35k and $50k sound?

Using the QC maps page, I’ve come up with ideas for most of the worlds.  There’s some like Britechester that don’t have different sized lots but do have different sized houses.  I’ve attached what I have so far, trying to use lots in different areas of each world where possible.

@MayaRose1138- I like the choose your own adventure idea for the founders, Willow Creek and Oasis Springs would be ideal for that. Then I think I'd like to branch off and have it so you choose your own world after that. Just in case any new shiny packs come out and we want to play in those new worlds like @debjameswhite mentioned. Maybe the options per generation are: floor plan a (small-ish), floor plan b (medium to large) or allow remodel as the options per generation.

Ohh the idea to make Newcrest a destination world is genius! Throughout the different challenges, I've noticed that a lot of us like to have certain venue types for our heirs and their families so I think this is a great idea. I could totally see bowling alleys or cafes there ♥
