i can't get command and conquer generals to load using windows 8,,is there anyway around that?

I'm getting an error mesage saying that the directx cab is unsigned.

When I try to play C&C the first decade the computer screen keeps freezing. I amalso using windows 8. Just bought the gme. stinks I can't play it.
