Tiberian Sun & Firestorm

★★★ Newbie

Tiberian Sun & Firestorm are the ONLY 2 games out of the collection I can not play.

I open up the game it loads up>>the EA video plays>>the menu loads up with the music playing>>I click on something and the music stops and does not load anything.

Until I Alt Tab to another program then back to Tiberian Sun & Firestorm and it takes me to the next stage of the menu.

I have spent hours typing to support for no real fix.........

Support Staff say it is a "Discontinued Game"

I don't see how this is a discontinued game because it is still for sale as a collection through the Origin app.

EA still making money from this game and it should be working.

I am not happy with the responses I have had "Just reset your PC for it to work"

All games regardless of OS should run through the Origin app. I have never had these kinds of issues with Steam.

EA get a grip and fix your games.

Also we don't want trash phone versions of Command & Conquer. Bring us an up to date version of Zero Hour.

Not really, actually. The oldest three C&C games (C&C1, RA1 and TS) are included in the collection  for completeness' sake, but they have been freeware for over a decade now.

However, a lot of the games have been upgraded with community-created unofficial patches that fix a lot of their bugs and compatibility problems. You can find them here:

Command & Conquer 1:

Red Alert 1:

Tiberian Sun:

Red Alert 2:

  • I advise installing the CnCNet online play installer for RA2/YR. Even if you're not interested in online play, it comes with a bunch of automatic fixes. It should automatically take care of the "black screen" issue, and has a configuration tool that allows further tweaking of the game's settings.

Generals:

  • GenTool seems to be the main patch for Generals these days. The website is kind of vague on what it does besides restoring multiplayer and adding anti-cheat, but I heard it does a lot to make it work better on modern OSes too.
  • If you have issues with DirectX errors popping up, find and delete the file "dbghelp.dll" in the game's install folder.

So was there a fix to this issue? I have the exact same issue. I get to the menu, then when I pick a submenu.... Music stops and it says on the main menu without anything starting or changing....

I am going to test a few things now. I am running Windows 10, Ver 21H1, 19043.1165. Game vers. 2.03 mmx  st-10.
