When i try launching red alert 3 which i purchased through steam the game simply will not launch no splash screen at all the process runs for about 10 seconds before it force closes itself
it doesnt generate any crash reports or warnings whatsoever

I am also having a problem with the game launching. It used to run fine on my Windows 8 laptop. Suddenly, it will not launch anymore no matter how many times I click the icon. I can see the launcher running in task manager, but it never loads anything. I have tried rebooting and relaunching and nothing happens. I get no error messages and nothing else hangs due to the game not running. I notice that the launcher says "Launcher 32bit" and I have 64 bit OS, but it still would run for me in the recent past. Not sure what would have changed.
I even am able to open the "Control Center" with no issue, it is just the actual game does not play. I also have the latest updates and patches.
Any tips will be greatly appreicated.

I have the same issue. I bought the entire C&C pack a few months ago. I can get other games to launch, but red alert 3 loads the mini window, but then it just closes with no error. I've been on the phone with tech support (after an hour wait) and after running through some tests I was just told to uninstall and redownload the game. I did that but it didn't help.
I am running a new Windows 7 machine, fully capable. My friend bought the same offer and he can run his just fine. Please help! I feel cheated that I bought a game that does not work. I would not have these problems if I had just bought the CD version of it.

I just had the splash screen issue myself, but FINALLY found a fix for it.
RA3 MUST be in C:\Program files\Origin games for it to run at me at least. Just make it be re-installed in the standard destination. Hope it works for you guys! I spent 2 hours on the phone with EA-support, including their specialist team, and all I got was a 90€ phone bill, and no solution.
Found this through a friend who had the same problem.

Tried to run it on windows 8 Pro 64.
After spending almost an hour trying to start RA 3 or RA 3 Uprising having the same issue (10 second splashscreen and then nothing), tried everything from compatibility settings to administrator rights and so fort. Nothing worked until I've tried a different approach. Turned of my antivirus's "active scanning" and "on access scanning" features and now it works.
I've also tried this on a friends computer as he had the same issue and we were trying to play together. Difference was he had no anti virus software installed so we just turned off windows defender and that did the trick for his PC.
I don't exactly know if the compatibility settings have any effect since I did not change them back when is saw that it was finally working, but just in case here they are:
- run as administrator (checked)
- run in compatibility for windows 7
Hope this helps anyone since I know how frustrating it can get.

Found a solution! Just set the compatability settings to your preference, and then run the game as an administrator through the installation folder. If not Run the game as per normal and when it l comes up as that black screen and closes, just go to the installation folder and run as admin on the .exe while the game is still open. thats how mine worked. hope it helped!

i also meet the same problem .I cannot run my red alert 3 on origin ,which makes me annoying .I have already tried countless method ,but they are still useless to wrestle with the problem i face . It claimed that the game required directx 9 or above. In fact, my vision of directx is 12 ,which is the latest vision.Besides, i am sure that my handware would not have problem since my computer is new and i bought it last month.I do not what happen , which makes this diseater .I feel hopeless and helpless .i sincerely hope that someone can help me a hand to solve this problem.Thank you for your kind attention!
