Bug List for Burnout Paradise Remastered [Update 1.03/1.0.0.5]

★★★★ Guide

Original post on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Burnout/comments/8c5ir1/bug_list_for_burnout_paradise_remastered_update/

This is a list of bugs you might encounter as of update 1.03/1.0.0.5, in no particular order. If you have any additions, corrections, or clarifications to this list or anything in it, post a comment and I'll edit it in as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the official bug list thread got unstickied and hasn't been updated, hence me posting this one.

Since most of the original team that was at Criterion is gone, I expect they don't know the ins and outs of the game too well, so I've provided as many examples of the original game as possible in the hopes that it'll help with any future patches.

Offline bugs:

  • [PS4] Savegame corruption. They patched at least one cause of this in 1.03, but evidently there are other causes. If this happens to you, please report what you were doing when it happened!
Edit: u/Im2Chicken's report can be found here.

  • [PS4] Game crashes. This can cause the aforementioned corrupted saves. My own game has crashed as a showtime ended and during the Franke Exchange Road Rage, but more causes than just those have been reported by others. If this happens to you, please report what you were doing when it happened!

  • [PS4/XB1] Vehicle issues:

  • The Toy 88 is almost, if not just as heavy in Hover mode as it is in Road Mode. Remastered vs Original

  • The FV1100-TI and GP Competition bikes are damaged upon unlocking them and cannot be repaired, so their riders/colors can't be changed. This bug was brought over from the original PC version. FV1100-TI & GP Competition

  • The Olympus Governor has the skin of a normal Olympus. Remastered vs Original

  • The Toy Nighthawk doesn't make a swoosh noise while boosting. Remastered vs Original

  • The Vegas and Vegas Carnivale Gold/Platinum finishes have the license plate on the front left of the car as part of the paint. This bug was brought over from the original game. Example

  • The Extreme Hot Rod's manufacturer is listed as Hunter, when it should be Carson. This bug was carried over from the original console game.

  • [PS4] If you change cars, they take a second to load after exiting the Junkyard. Remastered vs Original

  • [PS4/XB1] When zooming out in the map screen, it doesn't zoom out far enough and cuts off the island. This was brought over from the original PC version, which didn't have the island. Remastered vs Original

  • [PS4/XB1] Sound randomly doesn't work. Restarting the console fixes the issue.

  • [PS4/XB1] Vehicle category selection doesn't roll over.

  • [PS4/XB1] Mileage on the Burning Route variants of cars will not be counted until the second time the it's taken out of the Junkyard. If its standard version is used afterward, the mileage of the Burning Route version will reset to 0 again. This is also the case with Cop Cars. This bug was brought over from the original game.

  • [PS4/XB1] The on-screen odometer gets reset to 0 when you take down a roaming car and when your licence is upgraded; it appears to be correct again if you take the same car out of the Junkyard.

  • [PS4/XB1] Certain vehicles may seem to have been driven before right after unlocking them, with them already having mileage and having no "NEW!" sticker in the junkyard.

  • [PS4/XB1] The Island Info, Rider Details, Leaderboards, and Soundtrack screens all have lines running through them. If you need help seeing the lines, I've put red circles around them here. On a side note, the line only seems to run through the largest texture, not the whole screen.

  • [PS4] After completing all Bike Day Road Rules, if you check the leaderboards, it may reset all offline progress.

  • [XB1] Achievement progress on one Xbox may not be counted on another, making it impossible to get some achievements.

Online bugs:

  • [PS4/XB1] The list of sessions is capped to 15 instead of 100. Remastered vs Original

  • [PS4/XB1] All sessions in the search screen show Next Up: Race, Previously: Freeburn Online, and Vehicle: Car, even if none of those are true. Example

  • [PS4/XB1] If no sessions are found, the game will hang on "searching for games" for 60 seconds, then show "no games found" instead of showing "no games found" without any delay. Example

  • [PS4/XB1] Players colors do not stay the same. After someone leaves, everyone but the host will change color. Example of before and after a player leaves in the remaster.

  • [PS4/XB1] When you leave a session, "Game no longer exists" pops up, even if you were the host. Example

  • [XB1] When hosting/joining an online session, the game takes several seconds to progress from the "entering game" screen to gameplay.

  • [XB1] The game can lag when a player joins an online session. Example

  • [PS4/XB1] When driving the EHR, if the host starts a CnR event, your car will have usable locked boost. Example by u/mcinally

  • [PS4] When a player leaves the game, another might be kicked at the same time. The second player will get the "room no longer exists" popup.

  • [PS4/XB1] Show Players:

  • [PS4] All players have a checkered flag next to their name upon entering the room. This may disappear shortly after.

  • All players (except the host and, potentially, random players) have your statistics until someone else joins the session.

  • All players have your races played/won statistic permanently.

  • The races won statistic is based off your offline races completed.

  • Takedowns sometimes reset to 0.

  • [PS4/XB1] Leaderboards:

  • Road Rules - Time has random people with bugged times they couldn't possibly have set. The glitch that causes it seems to have been patched, but some of the times remain on the leaderboards.

  • Road Rule leaderboards show the incorrect vehicle if the time was set using a BSI car, i.e. the Street Rod shows up as an Ikusa GT. If you set a time in a recognized car, then beat it in a BSI car, the recognized car will still be shown. Example w/ recognized car improved by BSI car & Example w/ unrecognized car

  • World's Best points are "cheated" due to a bug in pre-1.03 games. The entire leaderboard needs to be cleared.

  • Ranked Race Routes shows the last time you set instead of the best time you set.

  • [PS4/XB1] Races:

  • [PS4] Races make the game very likely to crash.

  • Island checkpoints have no names, instead using their trigger name such as LM_123456.

  • [PS4/XB1] Challenges:

  • When completing a timed challenge you've already done, setting a PB will show "Challenge Complete", and completing it without setting a PB will show "New Personal Best".

Not sure if these still exist:

  • [XB1] Game randomly starts instantly kicking you from sessions you try to join, and trying to host will get you stuck at "Entering game", with the only fix being restarting the game.

And some things that technically aren't bugs but should still be looked into:

  • [XB1] It takes several seconds for the save to load.

  • [XB1] The initial loading screen hangs for several seconds before becoming animated again.
