the shaman ability in spore space stage broke my game

i tried to instant return home thing for the first time but when i tried to save the game it corrupted everything i worked so hard on. it deleted all my saved worlds. why did an in game ability do that? that was the first time i ever got shaman and that ability ruined my stuff.
