SPORE start screen frozen on galaxy

I purchased SPORE a long time ago and had played it quite often for a while on my current computer.  When I went to open in back up all that happens is that it loads up and is just stuck on this galaxy screen that will move when i move my mouse, but other than that nothing happens.  Please advise on how to get this game actually to work.  I bought the game and would love to actually play it.  Please contact me at [edit: email address removed].

I had a similar problem and solved it by deleting my old Planet/Game files located in: Main(C: ) \ Users \ *User Name* \ AppData \ Roaming \ Spore \ Games
