Cannot connect to Spore servers

I recently bought Spore and the Cute and Creepy parts pack.  When I attempt to login to the server I get the following message:

"Login Failed

There was an error connecting to the Spore servers.  Your computer might be offline or your internet connection may be having problems.  Check your connection or visit Spore.com for additional assistance or server status."

I have heard reports that accounts created after June 2013 have been having issues, but I created mine in at least 2010.  I have tried everything I can think of, including creating a firewall exception for the game, but nothing is working.  Any advice?

I am also having this problem.  I recently purchased Spore-Ultimate collection.  I originally made my account in 2009.  My internet works perfectly for everything else, so I know the issue is on spore's end not mine.

Same here. Bought the game, had it registered just fine. But when I go to log in, all I get is the offline message. I also saw that apparently the servers just aren't letting people in, too.

Same issue here. Even tried to get support to help me and got nothing out of it.
My account is from 2011 so I know that's not the issue.

I just bought the game tonight (8/1/2014) and I get the same error when I try to go online with it. Everything else works fine so I know I'm online. It's just a problem with Spore. I really want to be able to play this game with my son. This is unacceptable. Has anyone had any luck yet?

I had this error too. I have had this game for awhile now and my internet is fine.

You can't play online
Login isn't possible (Sporepedia)
Possible a login to www.spore.com
Upload / Download of creations doesn't work
Sporepedia is completely down
