I have an EA account already, which I can log on to fine on the website, so I KNOW my login/password.
I tried to register with the following screen names:
"SnowmanTSS"
"snowmantss"
"SnowmanDK"
"Snowman06"
but I get the same error every time:
"An unknown error occured during registration. Please try again"
Why won't it work???

You mean your Spore - ID ?! A login inside of the game is currently not possible, because the server is in maintenance - I had already answered here your question

You can't also create an account. Use your Origin - ID (email address) for the login
The Origin - ID is your master account for all games, as well for Spore
Your Origin ID works, otherwise you couldn't write here, right!
If you still have a another problem with your account. Please feel free and contact a Game Advisor
You can try it on Live Chat, email, or phone
1. Click the following link: https://help.ea.com/en/spore/spore/
2. Make sure you are logged in with your Origin ID
3. Choose your country (take a look right side upper navigation groin)
4. Press the orange button below right side "Contact us"
5. Follow the steps

Hi
I did use my Origin account login (same as I use here).
According to the last post in http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/960/83747.page then the servers are back up, which is why I tried to make a Spore account.
I just keep getting the error mentioned in my initial post.

I had to NOT select that I wanted to report a bug, then I got a phone option instead.
Not that it makes sense to me... It sounds like EA expects the community to solve bugs...
