Bad data spore issue on MAC

The game works fine with creatures names and such until I reach the tribal stage where things start to be called bad data if they aren't my own creature I have tried to find ways to fix this but it leads me to pages that are no longer available or dead ends please can someone help because I really want to properly experience the space stage.
