You might not like it, but this looks like a reasonable goal. There is a gap where his armpit is. I would say worry more about making a positional save rather than nit-picking at a goal that squeaked in while you were doing a pad-stack poke-check. People use this move a lot, especially if they are not a good goalie or they are trying to prevent a breakaway in online versus because unless people expect it, it works most of the time.
