Fixed the issue just like VojtaPlum123. For Windows 8 I increased the text size of Menus, Message Boxes, Palette Tiles, Icons, and Tooltips from their defaults at 9 up to 11. This solved the problem, however I'm not sure which of the 5 settings actually affected the game. I am now able to correctly click on everything in live mode.

I'll play around with the different text areas to try to figure out which is affecting it.

So for me, running Windows 8, the problem seems to be tied to Menu text size, which is 9 by default. By increasing Menu text size to 11 BEFORE running the game, I am able to properly interact with objects in live mode. However, if I had run the Sims AT ALL before adjusting the Menu text size, the bug kept happening, meaning I had to sign out of Windows, sign back in, adjust the setting and then start the game.

In short, turn it up to 11. \m/

I had the same problem, after updating the graphics drive tthe game started to work normally but now after the patch I can't click or interact with objects again..

How do you change the menu size and do I have toreinstall the game to do that?

Worked for me on Win 7 64 bit, by changing font size to 125%.

I'm on windows 8 I turned all the text size options up to 11 and it still won't work.
