Unable to reload weapon close to Newcastle ult

Playing on Xbox series X, when sat behind your own (blue surround) Newcastle ult, you're unable to reload your weapon while looking at the ult. 

You can reload when looking over, to the side or floor but even mashing X button, no reload happens. 

The destroy ult is bound to Down on D Pad. 

This happens to a good distance away from the wall while the destroy wall prompt is visible.
