Twin babies not aging up in Sims 4

I received a notification that it was my twin baby girls' birthday on a Tuesday in-game, and now it's Friday and they're still babies. I know I can force them to age up using the pie menu but I thought it'd be nice to have them age up on their own.

Auto-aging is enabled and the only possible factor I can think of is that they went to daycare the evening of their birthday (their mother is a Criminal who works nighttime hours). The babies also seem to be hungry every few in-game hours since their birthday and have stopped having dirty diapers.
