I am experiencing this quite often. While playing, the speed of the game will get stuck for a few hours sim time. If you are at ultra speed Basketball it will speed through the next 3-4 hours roughly, making you unable to pause, slow down time, or select anything. Once the glitch is over, time jumps back to before the glitch happened. During the time they are stuck, sims will keep repeating their current action. This is happening every few minutes or so and is making gameplay impossible. I've tried playing other households, uninstalling and reinstalling, and have had no luck. There is no custom content in my game and I'm at a loss. I can barely play at all because of how frustrating this is getting. Am I the only one with this issue?

You are not the only one. This thread has been here for MONTHS, and I have the exact same problem as you with the added bonus that SIMS crashes completely about every half an hour. Ive resorted to stop playing until it is fixed because Im so frustrated and tired of loosing time and saves on the game.

I think this might be related:

When I'm in buy or build mode, the music skips/stutters/cuts out every few seconds. It's like someone is repeatedly pressing the mute button on my computer.

I'm only posting it in this thread because I'm 90% sure it's a related issue. Is anyone else with the time lag also experiencing a sound lag in buy/build mode?

edit:

I uninstalled my Realtek HD Audio Driver and that immediately fixed the audio issue. If it comes back or I notice any other changes, I will update this post.

Nope. Issue came back!

It'd be good if someone who actually works on the game at EA at the very least acknowledged that they have read these posts and are actually doing something to try to fix this issue.  It's clearly not related to one type of operating system, not about how good a computer you have, not anything to do with custom content, or memory, or how many items you have in your inventory, or audio, or unchecking the mood sting, or kids doing homework.  So what the hell is causing it?  How many different scenarios do we have to describe before someone, anyone, says "yep, there's an issue and we're trying to fix it" rather than putting out another stuff pack.

I'm happy to buy the expansions and stuff packs, but I want a game that works first, before I start adding anything else to it. Sorry, but I'm bloody frustrated by this.

View Distance...

I had a solution before that turned out to be a temporary fix...literally. Lol. After the last patch, it started to freeze again. This time I tried changing my view distance to low in the game settings and that fixed it so far. I haven't had any freezing issues at all since I changed it. I know everyone likes the best settings possible, but this may help you too. Let me know if it helped anyone else!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY EVERYONE!  It's been ONE YEAR since this bug was first posted and STILL NO SOLUTION.  It must be nice to have a job that you have one + YEARS to fix a problem.

For a while I didn't have this bug after switching to a new pc. Sadly, just now, it came back (with a vengeance).

This is what happened:

  1. I started a new save the day before yesterday, I didn't get much play time, so all I did was make a Sim, fill Newcrest with some builds and Sims, move my Sim in to an empty lot and travel straight to Granite Falls (she loves the outdoors)
  2. Half an hour ago, I decided on playing this save, I had my Sim roam around the neighbourhood with the rental lots for a day. The next day I sent her to the National Park - I was looking for collectibles and plants when I ran into the cave that leads to the Hermit.
  3. I had my Sim travel to the hermit, she collected a few things there, tried to fish (and failed).
  4. Then she went to the hermit's house, I had her use the toilet and after that grill a meal. In the meantime the hermit went to sleep in his bed. \
  5. My sim was eating and I clicked on the tent in her inventory because I wanted her to put it in the world.
  6. Right at that moment - as I clicked the tent, the game froze - and it took a while before it was over.
  7. I managed to click the tent and select the action when the game froze again - I pressed "esc" (to get to the menu, as that is a safe place to sit it out) and waited, and waited.
  8. When the freeze was finally over, it immediately started again - this time I clicked the exit game option and wanted to exit without saving - the game did not respond.
  9. After waiting for a bit, I alt+tabbed, started task manager and forced the game to shut down.

On my old laptop, it never was this bad - or sudden. I know my report is very detailed, but I did that in the hopes that it may somehow help/be of any significance. Now, in my other saves on my current computer I have not been to Granite Falls and have not experienced the bug. I know that Granite Falls can't be the only thing that has a bearing on this, but it may be one of its causes.

I really hope my other saves have not been "infected" by this - I'd hate to not be able to play.

ETA: My Sim may have been collecting, but she didn't have that much in her inventory as I just started out. Also, I immediately did a repair game after shutting down the game, in spite of having repaired my game only the day before yesterday (that may have been before I started that new save, can't remember exactly) not sure if the repair helps, but one can hope.

Hero

Would you upload your save somewhere ? I've tried so many and was never able to replicate it on my machine (which is middle class and about 4 years old now) but maybe more luck with yours ?

Most people don't experience the bug in GF so that might make a difference.

Good Luck

I don't work or have any association with EA. I give advice to the best of my knowledge and cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your computer/game.

Wie kann man das hochladen, und welche Dateien sind das?

It's insane that we haven't even received an acknowledgement of the issue after one year. All I want to hear from EA is, "Yes, we are aware of it and we are trying to fix it." That's it. I don't even expect a patch yet, but at least let us know that we're not yelling at the wind. It's been a full year without so much as a word from EA. That's inexcusable. Ok, so they replied somewhere in the thread. I must have missed it.

And FYI, I experience the bug on all maps, including Granite Falls.
