I am experiencing this quite often. While playing, the speed of the game will get stuck for a few hours sim time. If you are at ultra speed it will speed through the next 3-4 hours roughly, making you unable to pause, slow down time, or select anything. Once the glitch is over, time jumps back to before the glitch happened. During the time they are stuck, sims will keep repeating their current action. This is happening every few minutes or so and is making gameplay impossible. I've tried playing other households, uninstalling and reinstalling, and have had no luck. There is no custom content in my game and I'm at a loss. I can barely play at all because of how frustrating this is getting. Am I the only one with this issue?
You are not the only one. This thread has been here for MONTHS, and I have the exact same problem as you with the added bonus that SIMS crashes completely about every half an hour. Ive resorted to stop playing until it is fixed because Im so frustrated and tired of loosing time and saves on the game.

I think this might be related:
When I'm in buy or build mode, the music skips/stutters/cuts out every few seconds. It's like someone is repeatedly pressing the mute button on my computer.
I'm only posting it in this thread because I'm 90% sure it's a related issue. Is anyone else with the time lag also experiencing a sound lag in buy/build mode?
edit:
I uninstalled my Realtek HD Audio Driver and that immediately fixed the audio issue. If it comes back or I notice any other changes, I will update this post.
Nope. Issue came back!

It'd be good if someone who actually works on the game at EA at the very least acknowledged that they have read these posts and are actually doing something to try to fix this issue. It's clearly not related to one type of operating system, not about how good a computer you have, not anything to do with custom content, or memory, or how many items you have in your inventory, or audio, or unchecking the mood sting, or kids doing homework. So what the hell is causing it? How many different scenarios do we have to describe before someone, anyone, says "yep, there's an issue and we're trying to fix it" rather than putting out another stuff pack.
I'm happy to buy the expansions and stuff packs, but I want a game that works first, before I start adding anything else to it. Sorry, but I'm bloody frustrated by this.

This is precisely my problem! Very boring.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY EVERYONE! It's been ONE YEAR since this bug was first posted and STILL NO SOLUTION. It must be nice to have a job that you have one + YEARS to fix a problem.

For a while I didn't have this bug after switching to a new pc. Sadly, just now, it came back (with a vengeance).
This is what happened:
On my old laptop, it never was this bad - or sudden. I know my report is very detailed, but I did that in the hopes that it may somehow help/be of any significance. Now, in my other saves on my current computer I have not been to Granite Falls and have not experienced the bug. I know that Granite Falls can't be the only thing that has a bearing on this, but it may be one of its causes.
I really hope my other saves have not been "infected" by this - I'd hate to not be able to play.
ETA: My Sim may have been collecting, but she didn't have that much in her inventory as I just started out. Also, I immediately did a repair game after shutting down the game, in spite of having repaired my game only the day before yesterday (that may have been before I started that new save, can't remember exactly) not sure if the repair helps, but one can hope.

Would you upload your save somewhere ? I've tried so many and was never able to replicate it on my machine (which is middle class and about 4 years old now) but maybe more luck with yours ?
Most people don't experience the bug in GF so that might make a difference.
Good Luck

Wie kann man das hochladen, und welche Dateien sind das?
It's insane that we haven't even received an acknowledgement of the issue after one year. All I want to hear from EA is, "Yes, we are aware of it and we are trying to fix it." That's it. I don't even expect a patch yet, but at least let us know that we're not yelling at the wind. It's been a full year without so much as a word from EA. That's inexcusable. Ok, so they replied somewhere in the thread. I must have missed it.
And FYI, I experience the bug on all maps, including Granite Falls.
