Well I have good news on my end. As of the12/17/2015 update , my game is now working again without any major time issues! It really seems to be working almost like new again.
I have noticed that one of my households moves a little slower than the others, and that may be because its one of my most played and has a lot of collections (I've heard those may be related, but perhaps not I don't know). Still, even that household is working much better than it was before. There is a slight slowdown/stutter on some actions. For example, sometimes there will be a little 5 second lag as the sim adds something in the queue, but no minute+ long freezes like before.
The other couple of households I've tested seem to be working fine with very little to no pause at all.
I'm excited I can actually play the game again. Thanks for the hard work put into fixing whatever was causing it.
I'm sorry to see that others are still having trouble though. I guess it really is a multi-faceted issue. I hope others have their games working again soon.

I have to agree with starberrysoda. Since the update to Win64 (not all too sure when that was) I havn't had this issue anymore! Beforehand I came across the time freezing bug about 3 times (sim) daily, no matter how big the household was.

Thanks guys,
it's good to read there's some progress on this.

Well, for me I improved, but the problem still persists, because my Sims still get stopped every now and then as time passes quickly, and that hinders a lot for business or holidays that my Sims give because I can not complete all tasks in time... I hope this Pack completely, since as only the base game did not have this problem. :/

I have also had this issue where my Sim is stuck for a few hours but do nothing and have found if I hit the M (Travel button) and then chose not to travel the Sim will reset or continue with her actions

Except that my game is with some other very odd bugs related to it, such as when I put my Sim to do something and suddenly he changes his excitement, the action is canceled automatically and it seems that the one "reset" on it, but I do not do this, the game does on its own. I hope that EA arrange this as soon as possible. :/

I would do the travel thing, but it literally happens so much that I would click a few times, click M, and click back every 10 seconds.
Reloaded it yesterday, it didn't make 60 seconds without them staring off into the abyss.
So disappointed. Pretty much ready to stop wasting time on this game and just move on from sims forever. I've been playing since Sims 1 came out, but honestly after being left with nothing for months I just feel it isn't right for me to care so much anymore.

This issue began for me just last week.I've cleared all my caches. It's so bad we cant play at all. We'd have to pause every five seconds.
