Tech can't get past focused video game playing; worked before last patch.

I've tried several times to advance my tech/guru.  I tried it the normal ways and then I bought the focused potion and we did play games for over two hours, but it didn't complete.  After a promotion, he came in with a huge focus racked up so I uped his needs to almost perfect and even bought a sleep and focus potions to make sure that nothing would interupt him and still he went over two hours with no results.  My kids are doing the same in the scamp part.  It says play on monkey bars while playful and the other part is already fulfilled.  I did this several times and finally had to give them a new aspiration. 

This worked before the last patch.

W 8.1, no mods/cc  DD with extras

Are you sure it says monkey bars ?
