Secondly, the process you are describing cannot happen. The only members of a guild who have "joined" the TW are counted for both the matching, and the actual TW itself.
If a member wasn't in the guild and "joined" at the time of player lock, they were not used for matching, nor can they contribute to the defenses or attacks of the war. SWGOH.gg logs the members of a guild once per day at a particular time - if members left to go merc for a raid, and then returned in time for the war, then it might show up as a 40-man guild that then swells to 49 members. This behavior has nothing to do with the TW matching.
