Can I switch to Facebook account from Google Play without losing status?

The Facebook login is not related to the Google Play login really.

Google Play for Android and Game Center for iOS is how the game's progress can be stored and shared across devices.

The Facebook login does not save your progress in anyway, it only allows you to find any of your friend's playing the game easier.
