Sims invading home (Private Dwelling Lot)

[ Edited ]
★★ Novice

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
What is your current game version number? 1.78.9.2300
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Backyard stuff, blooming rooms, bowling night, bust the dust, cats and Dogs, City living, Cool Kitchen stuff, Cottage living, Desert Luxe, Dine out, Discover University, Dream Home decorator, Eco Lifestyle, Fitness stuff, Get Famous, get to work, Get together, growing together, High School years, Horse Ranch, island Living, Jungle adventure, Kidds room stuff, Laundry day Stuff, Luxury party stuff, Moschino stuff, Movie hangout stuff, My first pet, My wedding stories, Nifty Knitting, Outdoor retreat, Paranormal stuff, Parenthood, Perfect Patio, realm of Magic, Romantic Garden, Seasons, Snowy escape, Spa day, Spooky stuff, Strangerville, Tiny Living, Toddlers, Vampires, Vintage Glamour, Werewolves, Vibing sreamers digital content
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Set up residential lot with one of the traits being a private dwelling. 2. Click on door and disallow everyone. 3. Play as you normally would. 4. Randomly stranger sims would decide to visit and or use your appliances when they don't have access to your estate
What happens when the bug occurs? Sims I have never met or spoken to come onto my property use my appliances such as grill or even going into my house to use my sink when I have never interacted with them to give them a key to my home.
What do you expect to see? I expect never to see anybody come over unless I personally know and invite them myself. I don't expect to see people deciding my cottage is a second home to them
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. The latest patch.

I started playing horse ranch. I didn't want to deal with the welcome wagon or random people visiting me about whatever so I can focus on the gameplay and get used to it. Despite having the private dwelling trait and disallowing people via my front door, stranger sims just come to my property using my appliances such as the grill on my front poor or even walking into my house to use my kitchen sink. Hey sims do you know what  Private dwelling means. Means you are trespassing on my property. Strongly considering evicting every household but my own. I am also unable to send them away. I just have to wait until they leave of their own will

Re: Private Dwelling lot trait not working

This is so annoying. I too have a (supposedly) Private Dwelling and my doors are locked for everyone but the household, yet almost every (in-game) day some bozo waltzes in, laughing and clapping like a seal. Heck, I've even seen people climb in through the window. But because there technically can't be anyone unwanted on my property, Send Away isn't available in their menu. Sometimes they take the trash out, so at least there's that. But I'd still prefer if Private Dwelling and locked doors actually meant something.

Some of my observations about this matter:

  • Invaders are either fans or teens asking someone to prom.
  • With fans it has been happening ever since Get Famous. It happens when you're famous and stops if you quit fame. Therefore I don't think other packs are related to the problem.
  • They really don't seem to be using front doors, something I realized after reading this thread.
  • On my current game, it has happened in different worlds. First in Willow Creek, then in Newcrest. So, it's probably not limited to any certain worlds. Sliding back doors in both houses.
  • I've seen people climb in through an escape window from HSY. This happened a lot in my earlier game several months ago, but I can't remember which world I was in. It MAY have been Copperdale, but there's no way I can say it with 100% certainty.
  • In my current house I have those escape windows and a fan probably climbed in through one of them. My back door is a sliding door, but it leads to a closed patio. Those windows are in second floor (there's a way to them, of course) and as my family was upstairs celebrating a milestone, all of a sudden there was an extra person cheering. No idea if he was cheering for the milestone or his idol. I just moved in this house, so this is something I have to keep an eye on.
  • In a student housing in Britechester, people quite often walked in through the back door (it was a sliding door, in case it really matters), walked through the house and out the front door and then knocked on it. I don't count them as invaders in same sense as fans and teens, but annoying all the same.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned that might affect this issue is the NPC Relationship Autonomy setting from Pack Settings/High School Years. I disabled this setting when I got tired of NPCs proposing to my Serial Romancer.

I didn't mention Relationship Autonomy because it's irrelevant; autonomy or not, those teens shouldn't bust into a Private Dwelling, especially past locked doors.

Doing this on mobile,  apologies for typos

Which packs do you own (if you have a lot, please list the ones you don't own) all

Please describe in details when you had them enter your home. Sims living on residential lot in sulani with private dwelling lot trait. Townies keep coming over and there is no option to send them home

Have you ever used mods/cc on this save ? Yes, but have been disabled since recent update

Do you have your front door locked ? There is no front door or rooms. It's an outdoor living style on the island.

Do you have the issue in Rental Units/Houses or Apartments ? Not sure, I haven't tried

Do you have the option to send them home ? No

Did you have a party going on and guests just overstayed their welcome ? No

Any specific world you have issues with ? Sulani. I haven't tested in others

Any special type of NPC you have come over all the time ? No

Did you ever give the Sims coming in a key ? No

What are they doing once they are in your home ? Talking to my sims and using the sink

Anything else that comes to mind? nothing

Ring Bear is Being a Nuisance

★★★★ Guide

The Ring Bear keeps letting himself into my house in Vista Hermosa, even though I have the Private Dwelling Lot Trait. It takes multiple "Send Home" just to get him out of the house. I've had to start locking my door to keep him out, but he still lingers around the edges of the property. He naps on my bench, sits at my chess table, and he's currently stinking, filthy and passed out in front of my house. Something needs to be done about him.
