What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Everything except for Dream Home Decorator and Country Kitchen.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Turn on the Simple Living lot challenge and try to make a meal without a refrigerator on the lot.
What happens when the bug occurs? Even when my sim has all required ingredients, cookware, and counter space they cannot make a meal, can preserves, make animal treats, etc. All cooking options when selecting the stove, for example, are grayed out and say a fridge is needed.
What do you expect to see? Sims to be able to cook without using a fridge to get ingredients, since they already have them. And for the refrigerator to only be used optionally for storage on Simple Living challenge lots.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No
The whole idea of the Simple Living challenge is that the fridge isn't automatically stocked with ingredients. But the game is requiring one to make food anyway.
My sims go to the fridge to get the ingredients that are already in their pocket? And they can't cook what they have without it.
