[SE] Error code 102:f86c2e10:6441d6fa - Issue with Salary Person Career

[ Edited ]

Product: the Sims 4

Platform: PC

Which language are you playing the game in? English

How often does the bug occur? Every time I try to play this specific household

What is your current game version number? 1.93.146.1020

What expansions, game packs and stuff packs do you have installed? All packs expect for Werewolves

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Through my save or by having a sim work in the Salary Career

What happens when the bug occurs? Can’t open and play the household at all

What do you expect to see? To be able to play the family and that the career works like normal

Have you installed any customisation with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes, but it still happens without them in my game

Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? I don’t think so. I’ve had a similar issue once before that also was connected to a sim working in the Salary career and I had to delete him to stop it from happening.

I played this household last night and everything was fine. Today I go to open it up and I get this error code (102:f86c2e10:6441d6fa). I could go into any other household just not this one. I removed all my mods, cleared the cache, repaired my game, created a new mods folder in the game, evicted them and moved them back in again (at least I found out it’s the household not the lot that’s bugged).

From what I’ve read from others with similar error codes it’s because of an outdated mod or cc, but it still didn’t work when I’d removed all mods&cc and repaired the game + cleared the cache. (I also updated some mods before and tried the 50/50 method to see if it would work but nothing.)

My latest attempt was to see if I could play the household by visiting a random public lot with them. Didn’t work, BUT it made the lot show the Incomplete sign after which really makes me scared the family’s been completely corrupted Frown

Only thing I haven’t tried is to play an older save file, but I don’t know if I have one that’s old enough to fix the issue. I don’t know what else to do, I really don’t want to lose this family I’ve played them for a long time Frown

EDIT: Seems like the issue could be connected to the career from Snowy Escape. Also added info for bug report.

@preciousbun If you save the household to your library, remove all mods/CC and delete localthumbcache, then restart the game, start a new save for testing purposes, load the household in there in a lot, does it load?

Okay I did everything you said and yes it does load! But something super strange I noticed when saving them to the gallery is that they both have like a “second person” behind them of themselves like a mermaid or vampire would, but they’re both spellcasters? I’ve never noticed this with them before and was very surprised to see it.

Not sure what I should do with this information tho?

@preciousbun if you save your current (main) game as a new file (for testing purposes), remove the household from the file and import the saved version, does that work?
(yes the name helps, notifications and all ;-) )

@DeanXeL I did this first with no mods or cc in my game to try and it worked! Then I did it again but this time with all my mods & cc and it still worked! Only thing is that they of course lost all their inventory, relationships + family tree which is sad… But it’s better than losing them entirely for sure :’)

Side note: this actually also solved a completely different issue I’ve had that I posted about on here when Cottage Living had recently come out. I couldn’t travel to the Isle of Vorpe lot (it gave an error code every time and displayed the Incomplete sign after trying to visit). I haven’t been able to use that lot since so that was a very welcomed surprise haha 😅

Is there anything else I should do or try to fix the OG save or do you think this is the only solution to fix the issue? Thank you for all the help btw ☺️

@preciousbun You could (still with mods and cc out) go back to your original save, evict the family, move them into another lot and check if that works now (you never know!) If it doesn't, I'd continue with the new 'fixed' save you have now. You can cheat the money, get the items from debug/live edit (mostly) and yeah... Sorry about the relationships... Frown

You will still need to find which mods are broken though, cause I'm betting the issue will return if you replace the mods/cc again. If you're afraid of corrupting the save, try to find the broken ones using a backup save you intend to remove Wink

I need to go to bed now, but if you still have any issues, I'll be here again on the morning or someone else might be around to help you in the meantime!

@DeanXeL Okay I’ll make sure to try doing that! I might write again in the morning then for some follow up questions, thank you again ☺️

@DeanXeL So I tried evicting the original family out and then move into a new lot, but the same error still occurred.

So now what I’m wondering is how do I go about finding the mod/cc that caused this? Since I couldn’t figure out by removing them I don’t know how?

Could it be that I played the game before having realised there was an update to MC Command Center? I saw they’d released one for November 22 but I didn’t know until after this happened and I went through my mods (thought the latest patch was too small to cause an issue). Is there some precautions I should follow for every update of the game like removing my mods before? :0

@preciousbun In that case, I'd just continue with the save you have with the 'recovered family' or you can check earlier save version of your original one to see if there's still one where the family is in good shape.

It's possible the save just got corrupted, but now the mods are fine. To check whether your mods are (still) causing this issue, copy the save you're going to continue with (use save as to a new slot). Then load back all your mods in the mod folder, boot up the game and play that save for a while. Use the family to visit some lots, do some stuff, go to manage worlds and back a few time, move them and so on. See if at any point the error triggers again.

If it doesn't, I'd just continue with the save and leave it at that. You can always keep a backup save in a different save slot or just hope the older save versions are sufficient Standard smile
