Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.96.365.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Create a two story building, section off a portion of the second floor and delete the floor that isn’t sectioned off to be a lofted room, add a roof to the outside on top of the first floor and drag it into the lofted area
What happens when the bug occurs? The roof shows up inside the lofted area instead of being removed/invisible like roofs usually would be.
What do you expect to see? The roof should be removed/invisible from the lofted area as it still should be counted as a room
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No
The first photo only shows off the lofted area and some of the the first floor underneath with the roof clipping through. The second photo however, shows the entirety of the lofted area and the entirety of the first floor underneath it with the roof clipping through.
(please note this has been an issue since March 2015 and it is now March 2023)

I’ve made a mistake with the mods question. I do use mods, but even without them this bug still happens. I just wanted to clarify.

I think this is an old issue that we've seen before with roofs and fences. Roofs will intrude when you have that situation. It just what build mode does and there is no easy way around it. But I may be wrong on that so, if you are willing to upload the lot to the Gallery and reply here with the name of the lot and your UserID if different than what you've used here (artssyfoxx81), then I will download the lot and take a look at it.
Hope this helps.

@artssyfoxx81this unfortunately happens because the game understands the area as open due to fences. Since it is not a closed room, but there is an opening to downstairs, it will not recognise that it is inside and the roof will clip. If you want to have cut out staircase or an opening to downstairs, you will need to build in a way where the roof will be where the closed rooms are.
