Rey's Dash Strike Orientation BUG

Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:PC
What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug Rey's Dash Strike is oriented by her character model, not the player's camera. In other words, if somehow Rey's model is facing somewhere else then where the player's camera is facing, her dash strike will go the way her model's is facing instead of the way the camera is pointing to.
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? RogueZeroRendar
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug?
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM)
In what game mode did the bug occur? Heroes vs. Villains
What is your time zone?
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Find a way to make her model turn to somewhere else instead of where the camera is pointing to (e.g. in the video provided, blocking the comeback of vader's throw makes her model spin, try dash striking during that spin)
What happens when the bug occurs? Rey dash strikes to where her model is facing, rapidly tilting the camera and disorienting the player.
What do you expect to see? She dash striking towards where the player's camera is pointing to
Please select your region North America, South America
AMD or Nvidia Model Number

It was hard to find good footage to show this, but by looking some of my older videos I finally found one that we can clearly see this disorientation of the Dash Strike:

Coming back now in December, I leave here this match as another great mark for the existence of this BUG. Happened Twice in this match. Time Stamps are: 12:00 and 16:05

And as they said in the latest patch notes, they indeed fixed this issue. Too bad other abilities weren't affected, especially Luke's Rush, Yoda's Dash Attack, and Maul's Spin Attack. But at least the Charge abilities are now all properly being oriented by your camera instead by your character's model.

Hey @RogueZeroRendar

Thank you so much for your report and video - I know that it must have been difficult to capture, so I'm glad that you've managed to find some footage.

I'll send it to our specialists.

Thanks again!

Bumping this as December is here, this BUG was never adressed by the dev team, and I updated the OP with a new example of this BUG

This is a consistent problem, not a one-off.  Rey's dash rarely goes in the direction where you are pointing.  I don't think it necessarily is where she is "facing".  It seems like there is an angle discrepancy between her current trajectory and the trajectory of the dash.  It's difficult to tell for sure, but it almost seems to be about 90 degrees to the left from the direction you'd expect the dash to go.  Makes it impossible to use with any accuracy.

@Alliecat7803

Like usual, DICE isn't worried with this BUG as it becomes obvious by the lack of any feedback on this up to now.

I supposed it's her model that dictates the direction because of the spin shown in OP's first video. There she turns 180 degrees because dash strike is used while her model is facing the camera. One thing is certain, it isn't a constant angle tilt, because in normal conditions she does dash strike towards where your aim dot is pointing to, but when the bug occurs she may tilt 90 degrees like you experienced, 180 degrees like shown in the first video and sometimes other angles as I've already experienced small (<90) and big tilts (>90) alike.

So I believe there is some game object which is dictating the direction Dash Strike is supposed to go, which in normal conditions is in sync with your aim dot (pointer), but under certain situations may desync causing this angle tilt towards somewhere "random".

I supposed it's her character model,  but it's more likely that it's her character object, the one which the model is put onto. But not having the tools to dissect the game I can only assume stuff.

What is important here is that the BUG is more of an event like BUG then a state like BUG: it isn't a state, like the disabled block bug was, where an event would trigger a bugged state that while active it would make your block simply not work. It's more like the high speed collision damage BUG, which only triggers when bumping into an object with high speed causing some damage.

Here an event that desyncs the direction the camera is facing and whatever dictates the direction that her skill is supposed to go, makes the ability tilt the camera and go in the "wrong" direction.

Last but not least, this isn't exclusive to Rey's Dash Strike, but seems to be more notorious. I experienced this BUG with all rush like abilities that don't have an auto-tracking: Luke's Rush, Obi's Defensive Rush, Yoda's Dash Attack, Han's Shoulder Charge, Chewie's Slam, Maul's Spin, and Grievous's Claw Rush.

I’ve had this bug happen to me as Rey, Obi Wan, Grievous at least, and I think I’m forgetting a couple.

Reminding devs this BUG has never been considered on the slightest, and it's really bad for gameplay, as it cuts fluidity, and disorients players when it happens. I also managed to manipulate Rey's character model to trigger this BUG with consistency:

You can see everytime I change my camera orientation while dodging, no matter where my camera is resting when I use Dash Strike, Rey moves to the same direction as her model is facing, instead of the camera.

In this example one could argue it's OK to behave like that. But the true issue is that many other things tilt her model slightly, and when you use a Dash Strike she goes off in a seemingly random direction. Like in one of the examples I presented on OP, where because she blocked vader's saber from behind, her model spinned 180° and she then used Dash Strike in the opposite direction from where my camera was facing.

Many things change her model's orientation, including stagger, so her Dash Strike tilting in all sort of angles is very common. It has also been reported in the main forum recently, you can check it here: https://battlefront-forums.ea.com/discussion/148390/reys-dash-running-in-a-random-direction-from-whe...

Also, to remind once again, this BUG isn't restricted to Rey's Dash Strike, but it seems to be the most notorious case of this BUG.

Ok so I found this reddit post showing the same BUG with Maul:

https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/e6ovdu/fixmaulplz/?st=k3tgfq81&sh=945bf7c3

I have some leads on how to replicate this on purpose without the dodge method that doesn't feel wrong, so I'll try them out. Then I'll update this here, and also update OP and title because this BUG is the same with most if not all rush abilities.

It seems that despite the almost 2 year silence on this, DICE is finally going to tackle this issue:

guillaume

Problem is, this isn't restricted to Charge Abilities, pretty much like I discovered in the past this issue wasn't only about Rey's Dash Strike. I'll have to do some tests to show this off, then I'll share them here so DICE tackle all the issues regarding orientation, and not just part of them.
