What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? I'm reporting on behalf of my housemate who has all the packs. He has all game packs, stuff packs and the For Rent Expansion Pack.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Simply have a child or teenager sim in the household on a residential rental and they just will not return home with any homework or science projects. My housemate has not game tested whether this happens to young adults as well who attend university. It appears to be an education bug, so it'd be good to test whether young adults attending university are affected.
What happens when the bug occurs? Aside from the pet drive occurring excessively, on Residential Rental lots, child and teenager sims don't return home from school with homework. Their school performance is negatively implicated the next day.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see the child or teenager sim return home from school with homework either in their hand ready to place on a surface they can do the work on, inside their home or at the very least have the homework appear in their inventory, so they can do the homework before the next school day.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Install For Rent expansion pack.

@calzonyCraze If you buy homework on the book case, are you able to do it ?

Homework is usually a book you get when they age up and then you just do that with the same book. If you haven't gotten one, buy one.

As for the projects, I think you get them once a week on mondays. Did your housemate play that long ?
