Sims keep leaving school/work when I press F2

This has been happening recently (since I bought City Life). Whenever I press F2 or go to build mode, my Sim at work or school will come home, and it's not possible for me to get them back out. It's really annoying, I can't tell if there's a performance hit but for one of my Sims who only works twice a week, it's very frustrating. It makes it virtually impossible for him to get promoted if he keeps coming home early. I don't actively think about it and I keep forgetting it happens, so it's super annoying. Please offer suggestions!!

there's currently only two workaround to this:

• Don't go to build/buy mode while your Sims are at work
• Move back to a house. It only seems to happen in apartments.

This is until EA/Maxis can fix this issue

The problem is even if they switch to the gallery.

I checked my game as well, but when I moved some things in my apartment my sim at work returned home so the bug is still here for me.

Since I'm seeing mixed results on this, I'm going to retest.

Keep it open for now.

Actually it didn't start for me until the November 15th patch

Seems like I was lucky in my quick testing yesterday (I tested 2 sims going to work and a child going to school and everything was fine) I haven't had the chance to play since.

I've retested this and it's still an issue in my game .. only difference: I actually have to buy something now. Just going to build mode doesn't trigger it for me.
