Issue remains after repairing the game, resetting Sims folder and starting a clean save without CC/Mods. Below are the screenshots I took after first repairing the game. This issue does not occur outside the San Myshuno apartments. A fellow user at The Sims Forums is having the same bug.

@crinrict Sorry for the first picture. I wanted to show the notification and the apartment location. Here's a direct link http://i66.tinypic.com/10hivj7.jpg
I tried again resetting my folder and making a new clean save without cc/mods. This time the child didn't return early. But the mom did after two tries in Buy Mode. Made a video of how it happens.

It happens in other apartments / penthouses too. My Sims bug out and come home early.

I'm getting the same thing here too. Both in Culpepper and ZenView.

I tested a little bit as well because I noticed my sims were suddenly coming home early while I was in buy mode as well. For me it seems to happen when selling one of their household items. I forgot to check if it also happens when I make a purchase. Just going into buy mode wasn't enough to send them home.
I made sure all of my mods and cc were disabled when I went to verify that this was an actual bug.

Could anyone check for me if it also happens in houses or just apartments ?

@crinrict I play tested Goth, BFF, and Pancake households and leaving work early does not happen in houses when they go to work and you enter Buy/Build Mode. Play testing included selling and buying items, but no changes to the structure of the houses. Selling and buying items was the trigger for bringing my apartment-living Sims home early from work.
