[OPEN] Stealth townies don't wear NPC job uniforms

Background:

"Stealth" townies were identified in this other bug thread as being 'by design':
http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4-Bug-Reports/BY-DESIGN-GTW-NPCs-that-are-in-game-but-not-in-manag...

These are townies that do not appear under manage households and possibly have the guilty suspect hidden trait and were probably generated by Get To Work to be used as suspects in the Police Career.

Here's the bug:

My game has used some of these stealth townies to fill vacant NPC jobs such as Massage Therapist at the spa, Mixologist at the bar and Yoga Instructor at the gym, but these particular sims never wear the appropriate NPC job uniform, they only show up to work in their everyday clothes.

It's very distracting to see some creepy guy offering massages looking like they walked in off the street, rather than in a spa uniform. Same goes for the Yoga Instructor and Mixologists. I'd like it if they were fixed to wear NPC job uniforms when appropriate.

Summary:

1. Spotted an NPC bartender/yoga instructor/spa worker who wasn't wearing the appropriate uniform

2. Checked and confirmed that they weren't appearing in Manage Households

3. Conclusion: this particular type of sims that don't appear in manage households are unable to put on uniforms for the jobs they are assigned to

Workaround:

If it was really distracting, like in the case of my spa worker who wouldn't wear a uniform, I used cheats add them to a temporary playable household so that they could then be deleted, and hoped that the game would pick a different sim to replace them in the vacant job slot.

No cc or mods.

Has it always been like this or is this a newer issue ? I think these Sims first occurred with GTW and were mostly used for the careers.

Did you ever see such stealth Sims in uniform before ?

It's always been like this for me, but I've only had Get to Work since last month and the game didn't generate any stealth sims until the first time I played a detective career sim a couple of weeks ago.

At the time, the game had just culled a bunch of townies, so the next time I visited the community lots, there were a lot of vacant NPC jobs like bartenders, and I've noticed that the game likes to pick the newest created sims to fill those jobs roles - hence a bunch of "stealth" sims got assigned those job roles.

I first noticed when visiting the spa that some random guy I'd never seen before was by a massage table wearing everyday clothes. I checked manage households and he didn't exist.

Then I took my sim to a dance party and the bartender was some woman wearing ugly everyday clothing instead of the bartender outfit. I checked manage households and she didn't exist.

After reading the stealth sims bug post, I started to understand who these sims were and why they didn't appear under manage households for me to easily delete or change. I actively monitor all NPCs names that exist in manage households so I easily recognise these stealth sims when they appear now.

As I mentioned before, the jobs I've specifically noticed that have issues with stealth sims not wearing uniforms when they show up for work:

Massage therapist/reflexologist

Mixologist (bartender)

Yoga Instructor

I also have stealth sims that are currently working as:

Gym trainer (works ok because they just wear sportswear and stealth sims have that)

Restaurant staff including host, waiter and chef (they all wear restaurant uniforms OK, but that's probably because those are specifically assigned for each restaurant)

Ok. So to me it sounds like those shouldn't be assigned to those roles as they were supposed to be generated for the GTW roles.

I'll add this

Hi, I've noticed some additional related stuff regarding stealth sims – they seem to have issues wearing any general costumes/uniforms and not just NPC job uniforms, so I'm not sure preventing them from being assigned job roles would fix these two additional observations:-

(In both of these cases I confirmed that these were stealth sims that did not appear in Manage Households, but still exist in my game eg you can make friends with them)

Criminal suspect - I had a stealth sim actually be caught by my detective for committing a crime, but when they arrived at the station, the stealth sim was not wearing the orange criminal jumpsuit, they were in everyday clothes. Other regular manage household sims who I've caught before and become a suspect to interrogate do wear the orange jumpsuit after an arrest.

GeekCon Cosplayer – a known stealth sim appeared as a visitor at the GeekCon festival, and I could select him and "Take a selfie with cosplayer" even though they were just wearing regular everyday clothes. They seem to be unable to display cosplay costumes they are supposedly wearing.

I don't mind that they can have jobs and visit festivals, but they should be able to wear appropriate clothing and not have some weird bug forcing them to wear everyday clothing all the time.

Yeah, something.

I would assume they should be deleted from the game after they are no longer needed for the roles they were created for.

Thank you for the additional info

Sims Generated by GTW don't auto change outfits & missing bathing outfit

[ Edited ]

Issue

Sims that were generated by the GTW expansion pack (specifically as suspects) do not have a bathing outfit; which causes issues if that sim becomes playable through them moving into a household. The Sims will not change their outfit unless told to (i.e. will shower, swim, go to work, jog and do literally everything in whatever clothing they were last assigned manually to be in. How I determined the bathing outfit might be the root cause of this was the get nude option under change outfit would not work at all (other change clothes options when done manually would) for sims generated by GTW added to a household and did work for literally every other sim.

I then installed a mod which was mean to repair broken bathing outfits that were screwed up by CC, and this mod when run would say, "skipped because this sim has not bathing outfit" or something to that effect.

I also suspect from googling while I was trying to figure it out, that a lot of other people have had this issue but didn't connect it to the bathing outfit as I saw a decent number of unsolved posts about sims that would not automatically change clothing when doing things where they should have.

TL:DR; Sims generated as suspects from GTW do not have a bathing outfit and it causes automatic outfit changes to not function if they are added to a household.

Hi @Nixon3191

I merged your post with existing thread.

It might not sound like the same issue but I believe it is as the outfits of GTW generated Sims are messed-up.

The way I understood it when the EP came out, they aren't supposed to exist beyond their role.

I think you may be right. i'm experiencing the other bugs in this thread as well, now that I think about it. It just never really bothered me to the point that it does now since the sim is in my household and it looks stupid whenever they do anything. I think it stems from the lack of the bathing outfit, since the mod confirmed that they do not actually have one (unfortunately the mod couldn't generate it only fix one that'd been bugged by CC but it was worth a shot. All the other outfits (except work) can be changed to manually so they at least exist, they just don't auto change anywhere anymore.

Edit: I was playing around with it again today, the cheat "sims.modify_career_outfit_in_cas" also does not work on these sims, as it does on normal sims.

I did notice that the orange jumpsuit issues started after a patch but I hadn't brought a sim into a household prior to that so I don't know that was happening prior.
