Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves?  Plan a wedding, purchase a wedding cake, select as cake for wedding, let your sim get to yellow level of hunger and it will occur.
What happens when the bug occurs? Sim keeps taking slices of wedding cake although it isn't in inventory as it's chosen as cake for wedding.
What do you expect to see? For the cake to be preserved for the wedding event

I have tried to insert a video with the bug happening but I'm not sure it works?

I'm having exactly the same issue. My Sim has a wedding cake set for the ceremony, and that cake is hidden. However, when my Sim gets hungry, they get the cake out of nowhere and start eating it. It shouldn't happen.

I "Me Too"ed this post.  In addition to this bug, my sim autonomously cancels the action I assign her to grab a piece of the cake. 

For instance, I tell her to program and every few moments she cancels programming to grab a piece of wedding cake from the 'hidden' inventory. 

The cake sometimes returns to the active inventory and now looks half-eaten. 
I've had to reassign it as the wedding cake multiple times. 

I assume I won't be able to use it for the ceremony seeing as it's not a full cake anymore.

I've got the same problem. Cakes set as a "wedding cake" for the ceremony get partially eaten before the ceremony starts so the cake becomes unusable for cutting.

Yup, super annoying. This pack is so buggy!

I know pre-Wedding Stories, if you put a topper or candles on a cake, sims couldn’t eat it autonomously. Not a solution, IMHO, but a potential workaround?

I stopped using wedding cakes because of this bug. It gets eaten before my sims even get to cutting the cake at the wedding....

Just had this happen, now I have to go buy a whole new cake because after reading all of these I now know that it will bring out that cake with a slice in it, seriously fix this bug it's a bit ridiculous.

So adding the topper right away so the cake is saved for the event isn't working now? It worked fine in my last wedding where I had the cake topper on and left it sitting out before the cutting and sharing where any Sim could have gone after it but no one touched it.
