I did have a savegame backup, but just wanted to let someone know in case anyone had this as well. ^^

Fixed an issue where Teen Sims would stay at Career Day too long which prevented them from serving detention. This would then get them expelled.
Fixed in Patch 1.99.264/1.78

My sim also got given detention while attending the career day. I didn't get the error code, even after leaving the auditorium lot and loading back into it again.
However, because receiving detention extends the school day (the 'active event'), your sim can't travel back to the high school from the auditorium to attend their detention. Seems like an oversight unless I'm missing something?
@SimGuruNick I have sent a DM to thesimsdirect account with a link to my save file. Only my issue was without the error. I just wasn't able to travel back to the school for my detention after visiting the auditorium.
