I would like to add that I had an alien sim memory erase one of her friends and she was a proper sim! She had no goofball trait. She's proper, neat and a cat lover. She was not playful at the time. Proper sims need an update that they never use mischief autonomously. She seems to use it all the time. I have updated her with the "dislikes mischief" property in CAS and hopefully that stops her from doing it again.

I can sympathize with everyone's issues they have will relationships (marriages etc.) being destroyed by this action, but I found it quite useful a few minutes ago. My Sim was disliked by Vladislaus Straud (yes I know...we all hate the guy right back but...) and my Alien Sim did this action (player instructed) and it erased and reset their relationship to Acquaintances. It was actually kinda' nice as my Sim's Aspiration is Friend Of The World and tries to befriend everyone he interacts with. I just wanted to shed light that this action can also be used for good results. I agree that it should be labeled under a different category (mean) as if this was autonomous it could get REALLY annoying!

This just happened to me. I've never played an alien so I didn't even know this was an option to look out for. My alien sim has level 1 mischief, outdoorsy, people person and energetic lifestyles. and active music lover and slob (grey not so berry). deleted his wifes memory during a chat, his mood was "very confident". The wife has always known he was an alien and they've been together all throughout adulthood and have 4 children and a dog together so I really don't get why he decided now was a good time to delete her memory of him!
What I've done to try and resolve it:
exit game without saving
set my alien to not like mischief in CAS using cas.fulleditmode
set mischief to 0 as it was already only 1 using stats.set_skill_level major_mischief 0
turned off mischief autonomy using MCC mod via sims pc, there may be a more specific way to find a certain interation i dont know...
July 2022
This happens to me whenever I play with aliens. I stopped playing them for a while because of it.
Yesterday I made a new alien couple, forgetting why I stopped creating them.
I'm sad to see that this still hasn't been changed since it can make gameplay really unpleasant and could turn a lot of people away from even wanting to play as the race.
This issue was addressed over a year ago... I don't know if it's difficult to make a change to it, or if EA just really doesn't care, but I;m sad to see that my aliens still wish to remove themselves from each other's memories even after being married.

It feels like this is so much worse now, I have to constantly pay attention to my aliens because they use memory erase all the time.
I have no mods. I have tried different trait combinations, never use Goofball trait, always have the Good trait. Does not matter. Still doing the memory erase no matter mood, they do it in happy mood, confident mood, flirty mood etc...It does not help cheating away mischief skill.
So frustrating. Aliens are now unplayable for me. It's impossible having them in a family or group of friends.

Holy Moley, I had no idea that this could be used as an autonomous interaction, I was just setting up a new save and took my eyes off my alien sim for two seconds and he just "pranked" his wife and erased her memories. Now I have no effing idea how to fix it, outside of reloading the save, which means I have to recreate everything in this new file again since I literally just made this save.
I am so peeved that this is even a thing outside of the player's control. Like total oversight with the older occults, since vampires, spellcasters and werewolves don't autonomously turn random townies into occults outside of player direction (unless its a bug), it needs to be removed. Hell, aliens need to be reworked.

Played an alien for the first time and discovered for myself this interaction can happen autonomously. Not a fan. I 100% agree with what this whole thread has been saying, erasing memories needs to be a Mean interaction, not Mischief. It's actually a little ridiculous that they thought erasing a loved one's memory belonged in the Mischief category at all...

Playlist a cas made alien for first time in ages. I have autonomy turned off for selected sim, he is the only sim in the household. Had it happen twice. Didn't know what it was the first time, but second I saw him do something and afterwards he had a moodlet about using brain power - I've not directed a single alien power so? - and saw the visual effects and animation between him and the sim and then the relationship vanish.
Definitely shouldn't be happening autonomously - at all regardless lbr - but especially not if you have autonomy turned off for selected sim. He's got the new practice makes perfect trait, lactose intolerance, and outgoing. He has no mischief skill, no like for mischief, and never got the embarassed moodlet for being discovered.
