[FIXED] [GT] Sims that Dislike Dancing Still Autonomously Dancing to Music

[ Edited ]
★★★ Guide

Product: The Sims 4
PlatformPC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.87.40.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except Journey to Batuu, My Wedding Stories, Laundry Day Stuff Pack, Spooky Stuff Pack, and the kits.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Make sure autonomy is on. 2. Create a Sim that dislikes dancing 3. Have any stereo placed around the lot (best to have this stereo w/o any other items that increase fun) 4. Wait for the sim to autonomously play music from the stereo 5. Wait for the sim to queue the dancing interaction.
What happens when the bug occurs? Sim will begin dancing. They will get a tense moodlet saying that they dislike dancing. Eventually, if they dance for too long, their tense moodlet will change to an uncomfortable moodlet.
What do you expect to see? Once again, the sim to not engage in any form of dancing activity.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

Read above.

Patch 1.79.93/1.47 claims to have fixed the autonomous interactions for both dancing and fitness, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. My sim is still turning on the stereo and autonomously dancing. It's frustrating.

@Kametisu Yeah, I've noticed this. I've seen it on other skills, like video gaming, including the ones mentioned,

sims keep doing hobbies & skills they hate

one of my sims keeps dancing autonomously, even though it's set as disliked. so she keeps getting the "I hate dancing" moodlet. I don't know if it's a bug or just bad design, so I'm putting it in feedback for now.

EDIT: make that two of my sims.

I'm seeing the same thing with one of my sims that hates fitness. For whatever reason they insist on exercising, and of course complain about it. To make it worse, any time I play a different household and visit a gym that sim is always there... and I mean every single time. If they aren't there when I get there, it won't be long before they show up to exercise and complain.

I mean I understand that in real life people sometimes have to do things they hate, but this is a video game that is about as realistic as a Looney Tunes cartoon. Also in your case and in mine the sims are doing things that they have the choice of doing, so it's not like they absolutely have to do those things. As for bad design or bug... well seeing as how this is EA it could be both lol.

@NeuroticAnarchy and @valohim666 , Sims have a tendency to keep doing activities that they either do a lot, or that they have done recently.  Unfortunately, the likes and dislikes system was added later, and does not factor into which activites that Sims will choose, it only factors in which buffs they get from doing those activities.  This is why they keep doing activities that they hate!
😓
Also, if a Sim is in a bad mood from other things that have nothing to do with the activity, you will get a pop up box saying that your Sims seems to dislike this activity , so do you want to make that official.  So, even if your Sims wants to become a botanist or a angler, if your Sim is in a bad mood while gardening or fishing, they may get this pop up, and if you accidentally click on it, you Sim will have a good chance to be miserable any time they do this activity, even though that activity might be for their Aspiration.  So, if you have a Sim with the Angler aspiration, and they got fired from their job, are hungry, wet from the rain, and have to pee, they might get this pop up asking you if you want them to dislike fishing even if they previously enjoyed it.  (Unless you have already made it official that they like fishing) .

I hope if and when there is a Sims 5, they keep this in mind and make likes and dislikes from the beginning, and that they autonomously will choose what they like and avoid what they hate! 🤞

Same exact thing happening for me. There are tons of other things to do in the house (easels, tv, computers, bonsai tree, chess board, etc.) and yet my sim who dislikes dancing will still go downstairs to dance instead of doing literally any of his actually liked activities for fun. It makes absolutely no sense that likes and dislikes have no bearing on autonomy. This is a sim version of myself, and I genuinely hate dancing in real life, so it's just baffling to me that the game doesn't seem to care about reasonable autonomy.

The only time I've ever seen a dislike stop a sim from doing something is that my sims who dislike cooking will only get quick meals, and if they can't get a quick meal for whatever reason they would prefer to just starve. This is the kind of thing we should see from all of the dislikes, not just some of them.

I just found this problem on one of my sims. They will not stop dancing to music even though they dislike it. I find this very annoying as I was looking forward to having a sim that could enjoy the benefit of music without constantly dropping everything else to go dance ever chance they get.

It really should be a full stop to the activity for a sim who dislikes it as far as autonomy is concerned as long as it isn't as life or death situation.

@PugLove888 No, I will not be buying Sims 5 or any other packs, etc. Not waiting on another half put together broken game from money hungry cash grabbers! I spent over $760 on Sims 4 and expected it to at least work, but Nothing gets FIXED! They should be fixing bugs that they put in to sell more broken content! From very Angry, Disabled Navy Vet.!

Yeah I just rage quit to look up this issue because I just had an elder sim, who lived on a different lot and dislikes dancing (and socialising and fun in general), autonomously pop over and find a stereo to turn on and dance himself to death due to strenuous activity.

I have the exact same issue with video gaming preferences / activities - I have sims who hate video games constantly autonomously start playing them and putting themselves in terrible moods, and even if I lock down the PCs, they will just pull their phone out to annoy themselves.

I don't know jack about video game development, but surely it must be possible to add a check when choosing the next autonomous action to skip any activities that the sim dislikes? Especially when there is so much else for that sim to do, or if the sims already has a warning moodlet that continued activities will lead to certain death?

I love the idea of if I get a sim to start building a skill they are then more likely to autonomously do it themselves, but certain activities are absolutely broken (the second I stop micro-managing the dance parties start and will not stop until I delete the stereo), but at least the dislike preference should surely override any autonomy choices/priorities?
