I tried to complete the tasks on the set whilst on the job to get around the bug and it didn't work as the game still wasn't recognising the skill that my sim has maxed out already and was still saying I need to develop the skill.... it would only start to complete the task if I made her do the action which would usually increase the skill. There wasn't enough time on set to complete all the prep tasks plus complete the job objectives
I've noticed a few other bugs too.... keeps fast-forwarding by itself without me pressing anything (I know a couple of others mentioned this happening for them in this thread also).
And as well as the above.....I've also noticed whilst on a date the top objective of "socialise with date" doesn't always pick up the social interaction and count it as a point.
....Also when cooking, eating, serving food or drinks - the items often disappear and stay invisible until they are ready and have been placed on the table for a few seconds.
Not enjoying this update at all! I would rather have the older patch
I have this issue on PC, too. It's really frustrating because when I go to film, all the prep tasks reset, so I can't complete the acting aspiration because my performances aren't as good.
I just ran a test and it looks like I also have the bug of prep tasks being reset on travel. My test Sim, Karly Conrad, Completed her prep work before the gig. I joined her at work and immediately paused the game to check the prep tasks and, sure enough, they were back to Not Started.
I suggest doing the prep tasks after you arrive on set until this bug is fixed. Karly had time to develop her guitar skill by practicing guitar for about 30 minutes. She followed that up by introducing herself to the Director and doing several interactions which develop charisma (Get To Know, Heartfelt Compliment, Brighten Day, and Compliment Outfit). That was enough to reach Completed for both prep tasks, so she went on to work her way through the job tasks, told the Director she was ready, and did the Risky option for all her performance tasks. Karly finished with a Gold performance for her first gig and made it home with an hour and ten minutes to spare.

That works only in the early stages of the career, when usually there are just two task to complete, both centred on developing the sim's skills.
That doesn't last long: the tasks gets most sophisticated as you climb the ranks of the career, and they increase in number (from 2 to 3). Usually one out of three still concerns skills' building, but the other two asks for interactions with coworkers (actors, crew, director) and/or finding "emotions" within the sim.
Both of this type of tasks cannot be completed on set, the game simply never allowed it, even before the bug. So in the end, if you're lucky you get to compete one of the three tasks (the bug doesn't "read" maxed out skills, so even if your sims is a ten in one particularly skill they still need to dance around as if they weren't), but one out of three tasks will make your sims fail the risky interactions, and at the same time is not enough to reach gold without risky interactions. You see where I'm going with this.
Result: You can forget to get gold any time soon, sweety.
Well, well, well.
I always try to keep it lite when some technical train derails right into my game, but I must admit it I'm pretty fuming atm. How fuming? Try picturing Drogon right after Jon Snow stabbed his mommy. In this elaborate metaphor you guys are playing the part of the Iron Throne. I bought GET FAMOUS two weeks ago, dammit! I gave you money in good faith while the harvestable bug was still live. Okay, the expansion was half price, but still. And now to patch that agricultural mess you completely FUBAR the acting career.
So, no Mods, no CC, running with the latest version, Seasons, Get Together, Get Famous installed and since yesterday my thespian sim is zapping his arse with a laser pistol on set because he can't fulfil the prep tasks. And trust me, he tried. He tried hard. Have you any idea how difficult it is to make him dig deep for an angry emotion while he's on the lap of luxury and of his smoking hot wife? This bloke is more chilled than a piece of fruit in a sangria bowl. I had to lock him in a bathroom plastered in angry paintings, but finally he did it, yes-sir he did. Until he got invited for a night out and on landing all his progress was lost. Which is so delightfully ironic, because then I got angry like a fricking bee and is such a pity I couldn't play the gig myself I would have aced that scene on set like a boss.
Seriously though, I know your job is hard, at this point the game is a beautiful mess of patches on patches on patches, I know that most certainly you're working through punishing deadlines and crushing pressure from right left and centre. And that's why my policy is to keep quiet as much as I can. Poor soul Alexander Goth has been strutting around town in his strobo Scout uniform for ages now, the bathtub/shower combo has stop working, and remember when the columns started freaking out? Good times. People let you know, I click Me Too, end of story, because eventually a fix will show and those are things I can work around. But lately it seems like I'm always here for things I can't work around, major game-breaking issues and dammit, it's just unfair. Because well, I pay for the honour of playing, you know? You know.
This is gold
I am having the same problem too since the last patch. Problem persists regardless of talent agency and occurs both when any Sim in household travels between lots or when game is reloaded. While it has made it more difficult to get gold, it has not made it impossible, at least not at the level of my two current actors (4 & 5). However, it is definitely extremely frustrating to see the effort being wasted. Not sure if it is related or not, but I also do not seem to be gaining fame nearly as quickly as prior to the patch for either of my actors. In fact, after successfully completing 4 gold gigs in a row for both and making a daily effort to gain additional fame through social media, painting, performing in public, etc, neither appear to be moving much if at all. Yes, I confirmed that the appropriate Get Famous and Simology settings were set. All in all, the Actor Career just seems to be broken from top to bottom since last patch.
It is somewhat tragic that I play an actor and a freelancer photographer. When one is FINALLY FIXED, the other gets so broken that I can't even find a way to work around it.
I tried UI Cheats to complete the tasks on set but that doesn't seem to work - or I am not doing it properly? Anyone knows?
@ftrodrigues1 I tried everything i could think of, nothing works. Once you're on set you're toast. I think I'll try just out of curiosity to book a job right after completing one and never leave the set, which of course is not a solution, but i just want to see what happens.
Yep. The fast forwarding occurs when my kid goes to school, and it stops around 2pm in the games day. I hope they fix these bugs. I enjoy Get Famous, and it's making it much less enjoyable.
