[OPEN] Extremely High Memory Usage - When Moving Objects from Inventory

First, I want to say thank you for the recent update for Sims 4 and including the 64-bit client, it has significantly increased overall game performance. That said, I do have an issue I have experienced recently that seems to be playing somewhat into an issue I had been experiencing earlier. Now that the 64-bit client has been released, I have been able to better isolate this issue.

Time of Incident: 8:27 PM CST
Date of Incident: 12/11/15

Computer Specs:

OS: Windows 10 Home Premium Edition
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)i7 CPU / 960 / 3.20 GHz / 3.20 GHz
Installed Memory: 24.0 GB

System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

C-Drive: 149 GB

F-Drive: 976 GB

G-Drive: 866 GB

L-Drive (External): 1.81 TB

Summary: When moving Item Stacks exceeding 99 of a single object, Memory Usage for TS4.exe skyrockets to process the action.

Description: When moving a large amount of produce from my Sim's inventory to another container (Example: The Refrigerator), there will be an unusual delay in game performance. It will function very similarly to an issue with Time Freezing and Resetting, such as found in this report, however unlike the previous issue, this one actually seems to cause a significant increase in memory usage, almost to a point of it being runaway.

I provided both a picture of what I was performing  (Which was move something into the fridge), and a singled-out pair of screens of my task manager as I waited for the process to complete.

This shows a very substantial change in memory usage, thankfully after the object finally was moved into the fridge, the memory immediately went back to a more reasonable level. (3.4 GB)

To further compare, I noticed the December 4th update was made to address an issue with NPCs having objects in their inventory that would inappropriately utilize memory, is it possible this is related?

Steps I did afterwards:

- Sold/Removed all inventory items from my sims on that lot. (This seemed to remove initial lot startup load from 3.4 GB to 2.5 GB.)
- Changed lots. (Force the game to reload items for the new lot, this changed lot startup for the new lot to 1.9 GB. However, upon return to the other lot, it returned to 2.5 GB. This may not be as much of an issue, however...as the original lot had much more objects.)
- Cleared cache files. (No change in performance.)

- Rebooted computer. (Slight change in performance, but not significant in regards to the game. (2.4 GB vs. 2.5 GB startup load.)

While I did find a workaround for this issue for the time being, it does seem like there's some issues still to address in regards to Sim inventories, as well as certain containers like the fridge.

If further testing is required in this case, please let me know, I will do what I can to find a clearer correlation.

I'm not sure of my specs, but I've been having that same issue. It's so bad it crashes my whole game. For me though it's not so much moving huge stacks but moving stacks in general. If I move enough of them it eats my RAM and causes a crash. Maybe I need a RAM update, but I didn't have this issue back when I first downloaded the game.

Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?

To gather a DxDiag on your computer, please follow the steps here: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/HOW-TO-DxDiag-for-Sims-3-PC-Only/td-p/1049584/

You can attach the txt file to your post directly.

It's been a while since I was last on this post; I have some information I can attach to it.

Note that I have changed computers since; the issue still persists, however.

I have attached my DxDiag accordingly.

The new computer I have I had thought as well might have improved performance, however it appears that did nothing of the sort; with Parenthood out now and some of my families now expanding further, the game has become virtually unplayable now unless I start a lot with 1-2 Sims; a full house is impossible to play now.
