This is still happening. Homework progress is not shown on the icon in the queue. It is shown in the Jobs panel but that's far less convenient.

I'm having this problem also. I would like to be able to see the progress so I know how soon they'll be finished.

@stephieb95 It has taken my Sim 3 full days to get his homework for ONE CLASS done. I had to disable need decay to do it too.

Update. There are two Sims living in the same University dorm so I switched control to the other one. The unselected Sim can do their task just fine but the selected Sim takes hours and hours to get 25% progress

For me they get the homework done at a decent timeframe, its just the counter doesnt go down. 

If I switch to another sim the sim doing homework completes it faster that if I am active with them however.

I've only had this issue with university sims not school age sims.

It might be a random bug. I don't see this in my game. I have 2 sims studying at univ and they have no problem to finish in time but the progress bar seems to be filled a bit late. When they complete the homework about 75 percent, then the progress bar is shown as 50 percent done.
