Please explain the keepsake box. [ Edited ]

Hello.

Would someone be willing to share affected (unmodded) save file(s) for the ICYA Chest and keepsake box?

Yes, I even got the Sticker Box to lock contents for bonus points. 

This is a brand new save so hopefully it'll give you a good idea of what's going on.

The only things that happened in this save:

Elsa and Dave moved in

I loaded up our boxes with a bunch of random items.

I put them in Dave/Elsa's inventory. 

I took them out of Dave/Elsa's inventory.

I labeled the boxes (I don't think this step matters)

I put all the boxes in Dave's inventory.

Dave moves out.

Dave moves in to a new lot.

Dave now has three boxes filled with items he can't remove.

Moving back to his old lot will not fix it. Nor will Elsa joining him.

For those encountering the issue, I have fixed it before. Move your sim off the lot, but leave the boxes behind (ie, Sell Furniture). Then move back in choosing the Furnished option. Your items will now be usable again. Though, in my experience I did lose all my photographs.

I put my sims baby prints and birth certificate along with some toys in the truly ornate keepsake box and I can’t remove any of the items, I tried place in world and my sims can’t do it, I tried dragging items out no luck. I can’t even add it it inventory because it says I don’t own my own item! Pls help
What do you expect to see? Items should be able to be removed/moved around

I noticed that it only affects certain types of objects. I bought the chest in Brightchester while my sims were in college. When they returned to their home, certain items were stuck in the chest, while others were not (see attached photo). As soon as I can, I will send you the save. @TheSimsDirect

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a Sim with one of the new storage backpacks in their inventory with items inside, and move them to university lodgings when they're doing a degree.
What happens when the bug occurs? Upon shifting into lodging during university, items put into the new interactable backpacks cannot be retrieved out of the bag. This doesn't seem tied to enablefreebuild, going to other lots isn't fixing this either (even when I took my Sim back to his old house to check if this was tied just to the world). The bags were working perfectly fine before I got my Sim into university lodgings. I had 3 items in the bag: putting Journal into the Inventory is greyed out as an option with the hover "[Sim] does not own this item." Pie menus show for my Journal and Football that were inside, but the Sim makes a routing error action when you try to interact with them. The lunchbox inside showed nothing.
What do you expect to see? Normally dragging the bag out will let you open it and drag out the items inside to your own inventory, where you can actually interact with them.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a sim place items in an ICYA chest, put the chest in their inventory with the items inside, and then move to a new lot. Then place the ICYA chest on the new lot, and try to remove the items inside it.
What happens when the bug occurs? When the ICYA chest is placed on the new lot, the items inside cannot be dragged back out of the chest into the world.
What do you expect to see? I should be able to retrieve the items my sim owns from the chest.

I just installed Discover University this week and this is my first time playing with any of the pack features. I understand from googling that this is a bug that existed in the past, but those threads say the issue was fixed. I guess it's back? Since I only just got the pack, it's obviously a new occurrence of the issue and not just irretrievable objects that predate the fix being applied.

The issue has never been solved as far as I know, which is why this topic is stll marked as OPEN.

The "Accepted Solution" was just a request for saves from the EA Sims Team and now it's just a statement that they have enough saves, so there's no need to send any more. It was never a real solution.

I was referring to an old thread (that I found when I googled the problem) from 2019/2020 here that talks about a similar bug. It's marked as fixed, with a quote from the Oct 2020 patch notes here.
