Sim is stuck at DHD gig as reveal doesn't work

What happens when the bug occurs? I tell the sim to leave home so I can do start the renovation but the sim doesn't leave home, so I do all the required things to complete the gig anyway. Once finished I click the "Call sims home" for the reveal. The timer for the reveal comes up but nothing happens. Sims are already in the house as they never left but nothing happens and no reveal. The timer finishes and still nothing happens. I only have the option to "Take before/after pics" under the decorator menu. When I talk to the sim whose house it is, I can only talk to them normally and nothing else comes up about the gig. I don't get paid and my sim can't go home even after hours have passed so my sim is stuck at the house.
What do you expect to see? My sim to be able to reveal the new renovation and to be able to finish the gig and leave the lot.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Although i've owned this pack for a while, this is first time I've played the DHD career and it just doesn't work.

What happens when the bug occurs? the clients won't leave the lot so i don't get the call client back to lot option
What do you expect to see? i expect the clients to leave so i can finish my gig

i've seen other have that issue but haven't seen much answers/solutions, hoping someone will have some over here

i just downloaded Plumbella's saved file, all my mods are working well, but when i go to a lot to renovate it, i can ask what they wants their fav colors etc, i can take before and after photos, but i cant make the client

@SimGuruNickHere is a save in the middle of a gig where the clients did not leave when told and now that everything is done I can't call them back via relationship panel or phone. I tried factory default and that didn't help. Hopefully this helps!

Update: Just after I gave up on this, I discovered that there is a 'Call Clients to Lot' option when you click on the decorator sim under 'Interior Decorator...'.  I skipped hosting the reveal and got paid.  However, the gig did not automatically clear from the job panel until I traveled off the lot and I did not get a notification indicating if they liked the redesign.
