[FIXED] Curtains are snapping to the outside of windows instead of the inside

[ Edited ]
★ Guide

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.70.84.1020 64 bit
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Make a room of any size with multiple windows. Choose any curtain and place the same curtain on those multiple windows.
What happens when the bug occurs? Curtains will place on some of the windows but will bounce to the OUTSIDE of other windows.
What do you expect to see? I expect the curtains to snap to all windows the same way.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

This is something that has been happening fairly recently. When I'm building a room with multiple windows, I've been unable to place multiples of the same curtain on those same windows. Some of the curtains will snap into place but others will snap only to the outside of the window (which looks absurd).  Using alt place doesn't work nor does moveobjects in trying to get the curtain to snap properly. The only way I can work around this is by moving the window and placing the curtain first with the move objects cheat and then placing the window in place again. This is not the way it is supposed to work though and it didn't do it before. I can't pinpoint when it started acting weird though.

I'm currently working on a save that isn't used any mods or custom content so I know that isn't the case.

EA Sims Team

Hello.

I heard this was fixed in a recent release.  Is anyone still seeing this issue (without mods/cc)?

That's pretty much my go-to with placing curtains. The curtain snap points can be so weird.

@stjmk Right! It is almost like the snap points for the normal curtain placement are acting like matching poles on a magnet and actively repelling the curtains.

Yes! This has been driving me mad, although I have had some degree of this issue for a long time, just seems worse after the last patch.

Same problem here. Currently playing CC-free in saves that have never used mods and since the last patch curtains seem to snap almost exclusively to the outside. I can turn the windows to bring the curtains indoors which is fine for the simpler windows but anything with a clear inside/outside just looks absurd. As others have said, you can work around it using alt-placement but it's fiddly and the feature is clearly not working as intended.

I have been having this happen for ages! I play on PS4, all packs.

My one and only quick workaround has been to literally put the windows on backwards (flip the so the outside is inside) then let the curtains go on the outside (cause they still do!) and then flip the windows back to and then all is right but it's such a pain for houses with lots of windows!

It's a nice workaround, but we cannot do that in apartments, there are a couple of windows in some apartments where I have the same problem, and you cannot move or flip the windows unless you use certain mods.

An easy workaround I have used is to flip the window so the "outside" side is on the inside of the room, place the curtain (which for some reason wants to snap to the outside of the room), then flip the window around again. The curtain snapped to the "outside" of the room (which had the "inside" portion of the window) will now be on the inside with the inside part of the window.

I really hope that made sense. It was easier for me to just flip the windows than trying to find an open wall to move the window to, without having to move a ton of other windows and wall hangings around, etc.
