This can happen after a bigger update but should correct itself. Unfortunately, so far we have been unable to reproduce it.

@EA_HighCommand, it seems its possible to reproduce it as follow:

1. Go to ships menu
2. Go to ships shard store
3. Come back to ships menu
4. Go to toons menu, the background should be black, and when you click on a toon you see the party going

With those we were able to reproduce it (finally!) and flagged it as a bug now.
