Undo bringing up search bar

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? In buildmode, I'm not sure if it's happening to everyone but for me build mode is very frustrating
What happens when the bug occurs? Undo (L2) brings up the search bar
What do you expect to see? Undo the last item I placed or moved but I just brings up the search bar
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I can't as it's on my console, it's made building unplayable, please fix this or explain how I can fix this thank you.

This is happening to me too.  Latest version console Xbox Series X.  Redo button will bring up "filter items" menu.  Undo will bring up the text search function.  It's getting worse and exiting the game does not seem to work.

There are other weird things happening with navigating other things with the controller as well. For example no longer being able to use the d pad on the xbox controller to navigate through inventories or Simology menus.

I'm new to Sims 4 on console (Xbox Ser. S) and this hasn't happened to me until I downloaded the Back to School Bundle: Get Together, Romantic Garden Stuff, Bowling Night Stuff, and Fitness Stuff last night. The game would let me resize and undo stuff like a breeze without having the search bar automatically pop up like it is now. This has been super annoying in Build Mode. Was hoping for a quick fix but it seems like this is a common issue on console...

The only way I know how to bring down the Build menu is by placing the specific item I want down first. Then reclick it and finally the bar is down and I can resize/undo, etc. But it should be a simple update when we select something from the menu, the build menu needs to drop down while placing, once placed and edited the menu bar slides back up.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? In build mode open the catalog and set down an item. Since the update pressing the “view” button usually brings the catalog back up and after this the search bar bug appears. Selecting an item from the catalog and shrinking/enlarging it before placing the item also makes this bug occur
What happens when the bug occurs? Pressing the undo button will undo the last action but it also makes the search bar and keyboard pop back up
What do you expect to see? The action being undone only, without bringing up the search and keyboard

Please describe the patch or change you made. This issue did occur before the latest update but much less frequently and without any obvious triggers (that I noticed). Since I’ve updated my game this glitch always appears in build mode

In build mode the controls aren’t working as they’re supposed to. When I press the “View” button the catalog pops back up. When you have catalog open the LT button is supposed to bring up the search bar so it appears as if the controls are reverting back to bringing up the search bar because the game thinks I have the catalog open still. I have had this glitch appear randomly as well though. Since the latest update this problem bug occurs every time I build

I have the same issue on Xbox one, if I want to size down and up an object it happens too unless I place it down first and then pick it back up.

I've also been having this issue for a while. It's so annoying. Happens when undoing and also toggling the snap to grid. Wish there was an option to choose controller layout and set which buttons are used for what. I'm still having to adjust to the new changes after just getting used to the last ones.

I thought I was rid of this but unfortunately I'm noticing it's still quite bad while using terrain paints and tools. I was trying to undo a load of terrain changes and I got the search option every time.

@simsplayer818 Mine does it 99% of the time now anytime i try to undo also when i try to freeplace stuff i have to place it then pick it up again

@mumofharry I think you've highlighted one of the biggest complications with this particular problem there. It seems to affect different consoles differently. I've had it in some form on Xbox Series S and now on Xbox Series X as well. It's also random for me and just suddenly starts happening, when it might have worked fine for a while. I just can't explain it at all.
