It's the same on Xbox Series S. But for me about 50% of the time. It's incredibly frustrating.
It's been given in feedback on Technical Issues Consoles as well but with no response as yet except for many many players reporting the same problem for almost 3 weeks now.
The problem is because the menu stays open and the RT/LT triggers have been overloaded with too many functions. They had enough functions already.
Redo - RT with the BB menu closed down first
Undo - LT with the BB menu closed down first
Search - LT with the BB menu open
Resize to place RT with LT
Now RT has been given the functions which are usually assigned to the A button (on Xbox). Plus, because the BB menu no longer closes Undo no longer works a lot of the time.
It should be simple to address by reverting to the BB menu being closeable or able to be minimised on command.
Today every time I hit LT or LT and RT the search menu came up but still did Undo as requested. It carried out both actions simultaneously.
Edit: switching to half grid snapping or free placement, which also requires using RT/LT also brings up Search a lot of the time. This is much worse in Freebuild and the action still works but it causes the Search menu to flash up, and I mean flash. It's very unpleasant on the eyes. If you are trying to undo a few actions it's nauseating, literally it made me feel unwell.

I’m having the same issue and it’s driving me nuts. Both actions get carried out: undo happens but the search bar also pops up every time! I have to undo a bunch of stuff and it takes 20 minutes to do that because I keep having to close the search everytime I undo. It’s frustrating

@TheSimsDirect I'm not set-up to take videos unfortunately but instead I attach images of what happens when I hit Undo and the second image is what happens when I hit Redo. It's most but not all of the time and is worse in Freebuild.

Continued: I didn’t notice that the part where the keyboard search box pops up didn’t show but that’s what normally happens in the second option. You hit R2 to undo the action and the search keyboard pops up instead of just undoing.

I got a better video of what happens. When you hit L2 to undo, it both undos and opens search. When you hit R2 to redo, it brings up the filter box. I’ve also run into the issue like I said before, where it won’t let me toggle back to free move with the arrow.
it keeps saying the file isn’t supported so I have to give you a link to the video on Vimeo:
