Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
What is your current game version number? 1.97.42.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get to Work, Get Together, City Living, Cats and Dogs, Seasons, High School Years, Growing Together, Werewolves, Parenthood, Spa Day, Nifty Knitting, Tiny Living, Kids Room
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a sim get a Fear of the Dark, then cure it.
What happens when the bug occurs? This has only happened in one of my saves and it has persisted since the most recent update. My sim got a fear of the dark. I cured it. Immediately that same night, she got the fear of the dark again. I cured it. Again. Then she got it again. Then I used the Fear B Gone to cure it. Then she got it again. Then I broke down and downloaded the UI cheats mod because I was desperate. I used UI cheats to get rid of it. Then the moodlet kept popping up repeatedly and I was using UI cheats to delete it over and over. Then there was an update and I removed my mods and went back in. The actual fear has finally stopped popping back up. But every night as soon as it's dark, she gets the scared moodlet. And she's a Criminal, so it means she's going to work every night in a bad mood and trying to get her promoted is awful. I am so tired of her being scared, but I don't want to give up this save just because she's awful and buggy.
What do you expect to see? When a fear is conquered, I expect it to stay gone for at least a few sim days, and I expect the moodlets from it to be gone.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
This was supposedly fixed in the last patch, but my sim is still having this problem. When it first started, it was a family-wide issue that their fears kept coming back immediately. Then there was a patch (no idea which one) and at least other family members were able to get rid of their fears reasonably. But she's still stuck with the scared moodlets every single night. I haven't had mods in my game for several patches/updates now, and the issue started at a point when I didn't have any mods.

Marked as Solution for Visibility. This is still an open issue.
@ThisMicrophone The potions seems to be still bugged. It just removes the trait but nothing else.
Try if the following steps work for you.
1. Re-add the trait with the cheat; traits.equip_trait trait_Fear_Dark
2. Wait until you get the fear resolve want.
3. Buy a confidence potion
4. Go outside in the dark and drink it.
5. The fear should resolve for good.

I have the same problem. (which was seriously disappointing since this was supposed to be fixed)
One of my sims got the fear of the dark yesterday, so I gave her a fear-be-gone. Fear is "gone" but she still gets the scared moodlet every time she walks outside. (and she goes to work in the evenings *sigh*) Turning wants and fears off does not help. I've tried the UnsecretIdentity-method a couple of times without success so far. (have not had a lot of playtime to try too many times)
I have not yet tried to cure it by actually going out during the night while confident but even if that would work it's still a huge bug that fear-be-gone didn't actually remove the fear properly.
I play on mac with no mods or cc.

My sim had fear of the dark and i used the fear eb gone to get rid of it but my sim still gets fear of the dark moodlets even in broad daylight, the fear doesnt even show up in her traits, i even restarted the game multiple times and turned off wants and fears from the game options menu to try to fix it but nothing is working and i can barely do anything becasue my sim is constantly petrified

I've turned off wants and fears because of this. Even when they "Fixed" The glitch, all the sims who had been affected by it still had it. I turned the wants and fears back on when they had said that they "fixed" the glitch, only to have the rest of my sims be afraid of the dark. Even when I cured them, the next time I logged in, the moodlets would come back. I am afraid of using mods because the one time I installed them I almost lost my game. I'm sure I did it wrong but it scarred me nonetheless, so for non-mod users like me, this is SUPER annoying.
