[NEEDS SAVES] Can't make changes to build

[ Edited ]
★★★ Newbie

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.103.250.1220
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs except for Growing Together and For Rent. All game packs except for Star Wars Journey to Batuu. All stuff packs except for Luxury Party and Home Chef Hustle.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? The first time I encountered it was in build mode after changing a wall height (I was using a MacMini M1). The second time I encountered it was in build mode after copying a room (I was using my brand new MacBook Air M2). The third time I encountered it was in build mode after placing a platform (I was using the MacBook Air M2); a recording is attached which shows the platform I placed and what happens when the bug occurs. This has happened a fourth time and fifth time in build mode as well, but I don't remember what I did on those times before the issue began.
What happens when the bug occurs? I am unable to make any other changes to my lot in build mode after performing the actions above. If I click the undo button, try to make a room, etc then nothing happens. If I try to place down an object like a tree, it just disappears. If I try to save and quit the game, the game will keep saving forever (the first time the bug occurred I waited for hours and it was still saving), so I end up having to force quit the game and lose all the progress I had made on my build.
What do you expect to see? After changing a wall height, copying a room, or placing a platform in my build, I expect to be able to continue making changes to my lot and building my house like I used to be able to previously.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I believe this issue appeared after the most recent base game update associated with the For Rent expansion pack which I do not own.

A video showing what happens when the bug occurs is attached. It would be nice to see if other people are experiencing the same problem. Every time recently when I am playing the Sims 4 this problem happens, and it often only takes few minutes of building for it to occur. I spend most of my time on the Sims 4 building, so for me this means the game becomes almost unplayable, and I have invested way too much money on this game. Please get this bug fixed ASAP!

EDIT:

Here is a link to a Youtube video showing what happens when the bug occurs (in this particular case, placing a platform appears to have been what triggered the bug): https://youtu.be/gyLHiQVC4EA

Here is the full description I had written for my video, which should help to explain what is going on in the video: "This video shows what happens after the bug in my game is triggered in build mode. In the video I attempt to place down a tree twice, and as you can see it just disappears after I zoom out a bit. After this, I attempt to delete the platform that I had placed right before the bug started happening. When I try to delete it nothing happens (the platform stays in the same place). After that I try to draw a room, but the room doesn't appear after I let go of my left mouse button. After this I switch to live mode, and then I zoom in on my sim and unpause the game. After I unpause it time does not pass at all and the game still looks paused."

Edit By Crinrict: Adjusted title a bit.

This video shows what happens after the bug in my game is triggered in build mode. In the video I attempt to place down a tree twice, and as you can see it just disappears after I zoom out a bit. After this, I attempt to delete the platform that I had placed right before the bug started happening

build mode will only let me place one item at a time

★★★ Newbie

I have the new rental expansion and anytime I try to update my apartments, build mode will only allow me to do one thing, put up walls, change floors, place item, etc. If I want to do something else, I have to leave build mode and enter again

I was having trouble including the video I mentioned in my original report, so I was trying to include it in a separate post instead but even after I compressed it the file is still too big, so I will not be including it. In the video, I attempt to place down a tree in build mode which just disappears after I place it, and I also attempt to build a room which also just disappears after I let go of the mouse button. Afterwards, I switch from build mode to live mode and unpause the game, and time in the game does not pass when unpaused and my sim and horse are not moving.

@S2W23 That's a new one! Are you playing with any mods or CC in your Mods folder? If so, see what happens after you drag that folder to your desktop and delete localthumbcache. (Don't save, though! Or test in a new game.)

@vanillabean3

I’ll try and repro on my M1 Mac although I haven’t experienced this so far in a vanilla game since the patch and installing FR. Do you use the same Sims 4 folder across all 3 machines or different ones on each?

It is a different one on each, but I was using the same build and family on both machines (I had used 2, not 3 machines). At first I was using the build and family on the MacMini M1 and then once I got my new laptop (the MacBook Air M2) I posted my build and my sims on the gallery and dowloaded them on my new computer, and then I placed the build and family in the same lot as before (the 64x64 lot that came with the Horse Ranch expansion). I have only been playing with this same build and lot recently so I don't know if this problem could still happen with a different lot and build.

@vanillabean3

What is the build and family in the gallery? I’ll test them in my game.

The build in the gallery is titled "Horse Ranch (Unfinished)" and the family is titled "Georgia Ridley", both made by "jujudani".

@vanillabean3

Thanks! I downloaded your ranch and household and placed them on the 64x64 Lot in Chestnut Ridge and in Windenburg and tested on my Intel Mac and my M1 MacBook Air (which will be the same spec as your Mac mini) reproducing the steps in your second post with placing trees and a room. The game is still working normally for me. I let it run for around 20 real time minutes on each without any interference from me. I tested in a clean Sims 4 folder. Could you try the same?

Hey, I tried building on the lot with a clean Sims 4 folder and unfortunately the same problem is still happening for me. I started by building a room on the lot and then if I remember right I had also deleted two walls that were inside of the house in order to open up a room and this is when the bug started happening (if I try to make any other changes to my build like building a room or placing down an object like a tree they just disappear). I would suggest you try replicating the actions I described in my first post in the "How can we find the bug ourselves?" part if you haven't tried this, because in the second post I made I was just describing what happens once the bug is occurring. I think once or twice after the first time I experienced this bug it took a while of building rooms, changing wall heights, placing stairs, placing platforms, etc. before the bug was triggered again, but most times the bug occurred almost immediately after I started building.

By the way, when using my original Sims 4 folder I tested building on a different lot in the same save file and I was able to build a whole retail store with no issues, so the problem seems to only occur on my Horse Ranch build for some reason. So this is kind of good news, but I still would really like to get this problem resolved if possible so that I will not have to rebuild a whole new house on the same 64x64 lot from scratch and just hope that the bug doesn't start happening again.
