it *is* about excessive hugging, though. they *do* hug as a greeting, sure, and i agree... it happens too often. but the initial report is about hugging as more of a "filler" action.

take multiple Sims in one same household, for example. you can have them in one same room together, and they will keep interrupting whatever they are doing to hug. repeatedly. and after the "initial" greeting hug.

I posted about this issue back in December and just wanted to update that it's still happening. It makes social interactions so clunky and time consuming. They have to stop whatever they are doing, walk somewhere and hug before they will speak to each other. Sometimes they don't even continue doing whatever I had them doing before socializing.

Yes! I have this issue too. It's a greeting thing. If i make everyone interact with each other before sitting at the table, they will stay seated when talking to each other and won't get up to greet. But if they haven't talked in awhile they will all get up to greet each other before starting the conversation. Even when watching a movie, they always have to greet, whether that's a hug or a kiss on the cheek. The greetings are cute when they are appropriate but maybe we can not make it autonomous and just have it as an optional social interaction. Maybe use greetings like introductions and only show the social menu once you choose to greet them? I'm getting off track.. anyway i have the same issue haha.

ugh...it's now June....it's still happening consistently. Seated sims will stop what they are doing to get up, move somewhere, and hug before talking. They don't go back to what they were doing after either. I have to redo their queue.

Kissing/hugging before talking

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except pet stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Initiate conversation with a sim
What happens when the bug occurs? Sims hug or kiss or wave before they will perform what's in queue
What do you expect to see? I expect them to just do the task I prompted them to do
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I know there is an excessive hugging thread open, but that's not what this is and it's been happening for awhile now. Sims automatically hug/kiss/wave before interacting and they used to not do this. I have a married sim couple who hate each other. Both relationship bars are completely red and they kiss every time they interact!!! So, no matter what couples will kiss, friends will hug, and acquaintances will wave before interacting and it's awful. It causes them to stop multitasking to perform this action so they get up, stop eating, watching tv etc...and they hug and kiss people they are supposed to hate/be enemies with. It needs fixed. So say I queue my sim to fight with an enemy, before she does what I say, she hugs them then fights...it's not right. I don't see a thread specific to this. My sims are NOT hugging all the time like in the open thread for that. This is a malfunctioning of socializing.

i think some of it *is* related. because they will do it all over again when they haven't interacted/seen each other for a while. even if they live together or, for example, first see each other at a community lot and meet again two minutes later.

this hello-before-interacting thing (*and* the greetings that don't "match" the relationship) has been going on for quite a while, actually.

and i agree that the kiss/hug/wave/shake hands thing happens in-between tasks (like eating or watching TV, as you mentioned). that is, IMO, the excessive part.

so i'd say that it's a mix of a filler action with, like you said, some sort of... socialising malfunction. Wink

BTW, also related to these interactions/greetings that don't make sense: i once wrote about the kissing when Sims dislike each other (or are distant/just friends/have an empty romance bar/etc.), but i was told it belonged in feedback.

I'm merging this cause I think while it might be a bit different, it's something that needs to be looked into as a whole.

Don't think we need two threads at this point.

Should one issue get fixed and the other is still an issue, I will split these again.

My family Sims always (and only) hug when they are sitting together at the table, eat and I give one of them the command to talk to another. In this case both will stand up with their plates in the hand, hug and (sometimes) sit down again. I think this feature should be reduced.

Community Manager (retired)

It wasn't in the patch notes but a fix was made for this issue with the November 13 Patch. They should socialize more now instead of just excessively hugging over and over. It looks much better to me personally, compared to when I saw the bug originally occurring last June. That being said, if you're on a lot with a limited number of items available for Sims to interact with, and all your Sims are Good Friends, then yeah they're gonna hug, which is by design.

Anyway, does it seem better for everyone else? Please let me know if this still seems like a problem for you and we can investigate (your save file would be much appreciated!)
