Sims can't get married

Does this mean that the person is old (age) or that you have been together for a while or they are old in game (they have been created close to when you bought the game)?

this means if you have other romantic relationships with the same Sim when they want to marry someone else.

Say Sim A has a relationship with B and C and D and wants to marry D.

To marry D, he needs to ask B and C to be only friends before they can get married.

@crinrict The other thing I noticed is the tooltip on the wedding arch if you have two sims that are eligible to get married and you click on the wrong sim, you should get no one in your wedding party is eligible to get married besides the bride and group, but instead it says can not get married because sim is employed by sim. I think some of the tooltips are reading wrong, and it may have something to do with the paparazzi. The default tip should say no one eligible to get married. However, one of my sims kids young adult was able to marry the scientist sim that worked for the Dad and there was no problem, so it could also be related to the service household.

No other romantic relationships and he is working on a career I gave him (was unemployed before moving in). Keep trying to marry them every time the game gets updated but doesn't seem to help.

and he doesn't have any either ? Maybe a prior one where the Sim has died ?

I'm having this problem right now. I have no idea how to fix it.

@smtan1992So am I. My Sim had two clubs (long story) and the person he proposed to was in both clubs.
Being in a club where your Sim is the leader might trigger this issue.

Here is a workaround that worked before.
Have your Sims become just friends then romance away until you can ask again.
You may also have any other romantic attachments become just friends,

@crinrict No he doesn't have any other relationships or dead spouses from what I can tell.

My game installed an update just now but the problem remains.
