Hello, I'll keep this brief: the veterinarians in my sim's employ get stuck in a loop where the only thing they do is constantly and endlessly soothe the animals they're assigned to. I'm not sure what causes this at all. :c
I get it, they're cute animals, but can we please make some money?

HI @Keazra
Have you tried firing the vet and see if the same happens again with the next one ?
Good Luck

I've tried that ( had to fire a real good vet, too! ;_; ) and it worked, but then eventually one of my vets got stuck in a similar loop again.

Are you using a clinic you made yourself or a standard one ?

I bought the one that defaults at Brindleton Bay. ♥

I have the same problem. My guess is that it affects the animals that need surgery. Twice my simin was able to take over the animal.

@Keazra is it also for surgery for you or for all treatments ?
Good Luck

I haven't noticed. I'll pay closer attention next time. I do note that my vets never take pets to the surgery machine.

If you don't do training, they will do nothing as you described.
1. Buy a lot.
2. Hire people.
3. Open for business, and click hired sims. Pay for training.
4. Close the business.
5. Place a bed on the vet clinic and sleep about 4-5 hours.
6. Repeat 3-5 about 3 times.
7. When you open a clinic next time, your employee might start working.
(source: I own 6 vet lots)
If you are lazy, just build a small room with a PC, shower, and a bed for your sim
and lock the door of the room "household only". Then, open a business, pay for
training, and your sim will spend some time on his/her PC.
After few hours later, you can "pay for business" to each employee sims again without reopening the business.
---
there's 3 bugs in current vet system:
1. Vet slackers (already have bug report in other thread)
2. You can "pay for training" again without closing the clinic. (in GTW/DineOut, you must close a lot to let employee go to the training)
3. Employee have "pay for training" option even his/her vet skill is max out.
