I'm having an endless load screen problem too, except mines a little different.
I uploaded a few households from the online community. Afterwards I found that the household I was playing before was missing. So I restarted the game. When I tried to turn it back on, all I get is a loading screen. No errors or anything. I don't even get to hit the play button. I have to use task manager to shut it down. I have a pretty awesome save right now and I would prefer not to lose it. Is there any way to fix this without reinstalling?

I had the a similar problem. I started building a house last night, when I started the game this morning it stayed in the loading screen and i had to ctrl-alt-delete to get out. I restarted the game and instead of play, i chose to enter through CAS. I made a quicky sim and the game loaded into the town view. I then moved a premade family into the lot and then restarted the game again. With those sims moved in the game loaded just fine, and has since. So yeah, weird.

Okay i have exactly the same problem. I was working on a house but haven't finished it yet. Saved it and quit. Now 2 days later I want to play again and it gets stuck at the loading screen.

Same issue yet slightly different it seems, can no longer access my plots in live mode. Can access in build mode, but I would consider it as being unable to play the game.
I also have a save file from a month ago that also suddenly fails to load.
Moving the sims off the lot onto a new one doesn't work as I get stuck in a loading screen when they move.
However making a new save works, which is the worst possible solution imo.
I'll check in for a week or so for any possible bug fixing that can be done.

I have the same issue as the initial poster. No mods, no cc, no screenshots, etc.
I played briefly earlier today and placed a lot from my library onto an empty lot. The only gameplay I really did was go into build mode and look at the layout of the house.
I saved and exited the game completely to go cook dinner.
Came back afterward and now I can't load the game. It initially loads fine. I click the play button and it goes to the endless loading plumbob screen (10+ minutes is accurate) before I, too, had to use the task manager to end the process.
Reloaded and the same thing happened.
Seeing as I can't find clear cut instructions how to safely delete my cache I'm not sure that I've cleared that properly.
But otherwise, totally can't play.

Here's cache file instructions: http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/delete-cache-files/

Yes, those were the best cache clearing instructions I could find. However I maintain I am not certain the cache is cleared completely due to the disclaimer on that page that reads:
"Currently it’s not completely clear which files are safe to delete. Because of this it’s better to move files out of the folder instead of deleting them."
And so that is what I did.
Attempted launch again today and still encountering the endless loading screen. I attempted to load a different save file (that belongs to someone else I live with) and their file loaded fine.
In the load save file list, my save was listed twice. I'm guessing it's corrupted. I tried each of the different files and both cause the endless load screen.
If it is corrupted, how does that happen with no mods, cc, etc. and initially a normal save and exit (not a crash scenario)?
And (what I really want to know) is there a way to recover the file?

Did you check if any of the backups work (ver0-ver4) ? Just remove the verX to make them a regular save.
I'm sure there's tons of reasons why a save game can corrupt.

Ah there we go. Thank you.
To clarify for others:
I went into the saves file (my documents > Electronic Ats> The Sims 4 > saves)
Found the save slot and all its versions (ver0-4) Looks like this:
Slot_0000002.save
Slot_0000002.save.ver0
Slot_0000002.save.ver1
Slot_0000002.save.ver2
Slot_0000002.save.ver3
Slot_0000002.save.ver4
I cut and paste the save that had no .verX at the end of it to the desktop. (The first listed above.)
Next I renamed one of the versions to be the original save.
(Example: Slot_0000002.save.ver0 becomes Slot_0000002.save)
SO you get rid of the corrupted save and rename one of the versions to replace it in the "load game" list in-game. (If you don't change the version name and try to load the save, the slot isn't listed altogether.)
In my case it worked on the first version I tried. If it doesn't work, try the other versions 1-4 until it works.
Once I got it running again I deleted the corrupted save I pasted to my desktop.
Thanks Crin
