Other battles with Separatist enemies might also not all contribute to the quest but loghtside 8-D is the only one I tested.

Are you talking about 8-D Hard Lightside? If so, we've checked it today and the B1 Battle Droids don't have the Separatist tag. We flag this for review since the B1 Battle Droids should potentially have that tag.
