Impossible to give birth in a cramped room (game-breaking)

My Sim attempted to give birth in a small bedroom: a crib appeared between the bed and the dresser, but there was no room for her to walk up to the crib to have the baby. So she just got confused, cancelled the action, and tried to go to bed.... over and over. I tried moving the furniture around to give space to get to the crib, but I wasn't allowed: I could not select anything to move it, and when I tried to go into build mode it said I can't do that while someone is giving birth. I had to reload a previous save and force her to stay out of the small bedroom.
