Giant House Basement Glitch?

After exiting "change appearance" in the mirror with my sim, my entire house seems to be below the ground level. There are smaller houses floting up above it and when I go to the world view, my house is just a giant version of itself. I've tried restarting the game, etc. and I'm wondering what went wrong and if there's a possible way I can fix this without losing all of my families and progress.
